Pros: Their mochas are good. I like their Mexican Mocha (I think its called La Pistola) it has just the right amount of spice. I have had friends who have bought beans from them which I also enjoy but they are a little pricier then other options so I have held off buying them myself. I have only looked at their beans at third party retailers, though. I forget to look when I actually go to Bluebeard! I love the garage doors and decor of the building. There is also a lot of seating. The baristas are fast which is nice. Cons: Every time I have been here it has been overwhelmingly busy but I have gone on only Sunday mornings. I didnt notice any flavored syrups you can add to your drink but due to busyness I always try to order asap so I dont look over the menu much.

Interesting take on a small-batch independently run coffee shop. Interior of the shop allows for tons of seating and with the "garage door" open lots of outside light as well. Theres always a flow of customers. Food selections are limited, but one of the few places youll find Mighty-O Donuts in Tacoma (sadly, one of the main reasons Ill visit). Their coffee has a unique taste that Id rate above par compared to others in the city. Staff/customer service can come off uninterested and condescending - Id appreciate a more...excited personality. Tons of choices for independent coffee in the Northwest, but recommend putting this on a coffee "to-do" list....just not at the top.

Youll get incredible coffee here but Bluebeards key ingredient, which is missing from other shops in the area, is a supberb ambiance. Here youll enjoy plenty of windows, mature indoor plants, and stone tile floors which give way to roll-up doors for the ultimate indoor/outdoor experience. Premium soft-leather couches combined with plenty of round tables and even a bar counter ensures this as my favorite coffee shop to read, enjoy spring weather, or people watch. Plus they even sell temporary tattoos! The perfect way to carry an awesome morning throughout the rest of your day.

Went for the first time today and I am pretty impressed. I find the coffee to be reasonably priced for my college student budget, considering the fact that it is very tasty. The atmosphere is A+, it is a nice space with lots of natural light. They roast the coffee right there which is a cool thing to watch. The workers are really friendly and down to earth, and the music selection was amazing. I would definitely recommend this place.

Excellent local roast. No-frills coffee thats just about perfect without being pretentious. I made an embarrassing mistake in my order, and the barista didnt shame me. This is unusual friendliness for this kind of coffee shop. Good selection of baked goods. Lots of room to sit and work (or people watch). Family friendly

This place serves delicious coffee and hot coco and love the open seating. Sometimes they open a garage door and the fresh air with your warm drink is amazing. Would recommend. Also in a great location if you want to walk around, downtown area is a short 10 min away by foot especially when you have a beautiful day.

On a Saturday morning the place was almost empty, and I know why. Cacophony! The PA system was blasting ugly, poorly performed, monotonous music that drained all the pleasure from my latte. I actually saw people wincing as they walked by. Theres a Starbucks in the next block where Ill be next Saturday.

Always a happy vibe with baristas that are engaging, intelligent and more than talented at delighting you with your consented brew. Music choices are varied, are balance and although am an old dude they approach things in a very egalitarianism way. Thanks Blue Beard.

Great atmosphere, clean, lots of room to sit and relax, or look like youre working while actually stalking people on facebook. Espresso is excellent most of the time. Would maybe like a few more food choices, but the pastries are pretty good.

We love having a family walk here for a coffee. It is kid friendly with books, games, and a few toys, and our son loves to watch them roast the coffee! Friendly staff, good coffee, and one of the few places in town to get Vegan doughnuts!

Coffee is always pretty good but service is consistently mediocre. I love their branding and space but only find myself coming here if Im in a rush and dont have time to head to one of the other local coffee shops down the street

Great spot, drinking a cup of El Panaco right now. Staff was helpful for bean selection. The bonus was the cluster of teenagers that looked at the bagged coffee, saw the prices, and quickly left. You pay for quality, kids.

Good place to get coffee, staff is nice, coffee doesnt taste burnt. I like to come here every few weeks for a pourover or a cappuccino. Not to loud, but it can get packed. Overall, would recommend this place to a friend.

Great coffee - my favorite in Tacoma right now. These guys know how to brew some black water. Knowledgeable staff. Subtle but tastefully done interior. Always lively. A good spot to meet a friend or business associate.

In my experience the staff were knowledgeable and friendly, the place was decently clean, and the coffee was awesome. If youre a traveler looking for a Starbucks alternative to get your coffee fix then go here!

Whenever Im down in Tacoma I try to stop buy for a very well pulled latte and pick up a bag of beans for home. Good spot for working, studying, meeting with others. I never have trouble finding parking near by.

I like the coffee here. They have a nice open set up of how they work. The pastries are delivered from different areas. Its quite busy here. Might be hard to get a seat. I enjoy the music. Friendly staff.

They are devoted to authentic espresso production methods. They also do pour over coffee. The shots I had were amazing and they didnt serve a shot that wasnt worth bragging about. They roast on site!

Theres a lot of flavor in the espresso macchiato. The price is quite reasonable for whats offered, and most of all, the staff was incredibly helpful with picking out some beans to take home!

Love this spot! Friendly and knowledgeable employees. My only complaint is the lack of seating. That being said, there are plenty of seats, it is just always packed!

Best coffee in Tacoma, hands down. Worth the drive across town. Hope they will open another location in the south end. A girl can dream.

Best coffee shop in Tacoma and there is some good competition on 6th Ave. Its beautiful, open, airy, friendly and they roast a mean bean.
