I shop at this store all the time and overall have had an okay experience. Pros: this store has everything and a good range of quality so you can shop cheap, expensive, or try to find the best bang for your buck. There are a few employees that actually know what they arw talking about and are very helpful (i have to in mind but cannot remember their names. One is a guy that works in the hardware department with a ghotee and grey hair. The other employee that i find helpful is tall girl i think her name was donna that worked in automotive. Cons: most of the staff are just clueless about the products they sell and are completely unwilling to help. My biggest beef with them though is that they do not honor te craftsman warranty. I went in with a socket set that i had bought from them a year prior and asked them to honor the warranty and replace them because te sockets all stretched. The manager of the hardware department came up to the front desk and pointed out that the sockets were dirty and he wouldnt take them back. When i asked about the warranty he ignored me and walked away. Overall i give it 3 stars because i like the products the stre offers but mostly hate the crappy customer service (with the exception of a few employees there)

I bought a pair of awesome slippers From Snow Creek, they were defective the glue for the soul came loose, they gladly exchanged them for free, this was November! I brought them home and sprayed a really good water-proof sealer on them. I put them in the box with the receipts and the price tag, along with the agreement for the shoes to be exchanged, and stored them away! Wed. Feb. 26th I went to put the slippers on on and the same thing happened I notice when I went to strap my ice cleats to them! So I put the box in the car and went to the GS on my break to see if I could exchange them! The Manager in the shoe dept. said to me, in a reprimanding tone I would have to wait until next Fall for more to come in" I said okay! Then she went further, She said, " These are not to worn in bad Weather!" hmmmmm. I was offended Im a grown woman and I sure know how to make judgement calls on the Weather and I think that was a personal projection towards us Customers! Does she think we are all stupid ?

I think the General Store is the Bees Knees! I read these reviews people post about the gripes of their experience shopping there and wonder why they would say such things! I have shopped there for over 15 years and I also drive over 25 miles just to shop there! Where else can you get Parts for your Hot Rod, quality workwear, some ammo and supplies to fix the sink your wifey has been nagging at you to fix all in one stop???? The employees...... They do not all qualify as employee of the month, they are superior to Wal-Mart bozos! I am someone that also declines help as I am intelligent enough to find what I need. I would advise stop in and see for yourself rather than read these negative reviews placed by cranky people who are upset they cant buy their MMJ there and are convinced they get better customer service???? At Wal-Mart?????

If you are a cyclist do not shop here. I was stopped immediately and told I could not bring my bike in the store. I said "Well, okay" and walked out. There is not a bike rack that I saw and even if there was leaving your bike outside in Spokane is not a good idea. The archaic ideology of "everyone should own and operate their own personal automobile" is obsolete, there are holes in the ozone layer and people are dying because theyre too fat. The cycling community is a natural supporter of local businesses. Local business owners should lend the same support. I should mention that my experience at Dough Boys just up division was quite different. I was welcomed in. I needed several things, the staff were so friendly and knowledgeable that I was out the door with everything in less than ten minutes.

The general store should really consider hiring mature adults to run their store on the weekend instead of filling it with inexperienced children who do not know the first thing about customer service. Ive spent a ton of money there for both business and personal items over the last 16 years, but that will not be happening anymore. They lost my business today over a .69 cent piece of sand paper from the assorted box that is right on top of the other full boxes of the exact same sand paper. There are plenty of other places here in Spokane to buy the same stuff for less money and get the same poor quality unprofessional customer service. I definitely do not recommend this store to my friends, family, or business associates.

Went into the store a few days ago in an effort to shop local. Needed 3 life jackets, a boat buoy, a 12v switch and a few pairs of heavy duty work pants. Was on a motorcycle so I had my helmet and pack, upon entering the store I was immediately told that I couldnt have my backpack with me in the store. I wasnt comfortable leaving my pack/valuables unsecured so I took my business to Sports Authority who helped me get what I needed. I understand that stores need to implement some sort of loss prevention measures but making all shoppers out to be thieves is not the way to go about it. Until this policy is changed, I wont be returning.

This place needs to go! The building is old with a leaky roof and smells like mold. There are multiple buckets on the floor every spring. Its cold in the winter. There is no air-conditioning so its hot in the summer. The entire area will improve when this dump is torn down and replaced with a modern structure. The staff turnover tells the whole story. Either its a surly store veteran who treats all customers like a nuisance, or a teenager who cant find anything without asking the other employees.

I have to say I have shopped here my hole life, the fact that when I was entering there store there alarm went off, okay no big deal then the guys tells me i need to empty my pockets? coming in to the store? wanted me to take off my sweater? umm no your are not the cops first you dont even have the right to ask that of someone let alone someone coming in to the store, I just left as the guy was yelling at me to stop and he was going to call the cops please do next time.

Their employees are rude and poor customer services and very poor management and dont buy shoes or boots from there because if you try to return them back to the store you will not get your money back at all so I will be telling my friends not to shop at the general store and they need to find better management that arent not rude to customers

Was accused of shoplifting a drillbit. The security guards had someone follow my brother and me around the store, and confronted us outside the doors. Emptied our pockets, and showed them we didnt steal a $2 drillbit. When I went back in to complain to the manager, he was not concerned about it. They lost a customer for life.
