This is the largest, and in my personal opinion, the busiest mall in Washington. The mall is located in nice position within Tukwila and is almost completely surrounded by restaurants. Finding this place is nothing short of effortless. The interior of the mall is very spacious and well kept. The unique decorations and bright lights make the mall very appealing to most. In addition, small comfy lounge areas and multiple charging stations make loitering with your company effortless. Southcenter is very well organized. All of the like kind shops are in their own areas throughout the mall. For example, if you came to purchase shoes, Finish Line, Champs, Footlocker and Sheik are all within a tight vicinity. In addition, Southcenter boasts a large food court with very diverse options fitting varying tastes and budgets. Directly above the food court is a huge AMC theater that is open well past the malls closing time. This theater is very popular and showtimes are often sold-out, plan accordingly! Visiting during a busy time is exactly how most would imagine it. The mall is noisey, borderline loud and you might bump shoulders with other shoppers. In addition, there are many small children and people walking against traffic so paying attention is a major key. The lively and vibrant atmosphere more than make up any negative feature I can think of. A visit here is more than just a trip to the mall but a necessary experience.

Southcenter is kinda whats wrong with America. Its a lower-middle class institution that glorifies crass consumerism. Its all about mindlessly wandering, thoughtlessly buying, and then carelessly dumping. It doesnt uplift people, and it doesnt teach them anything. Stores like JCPenney offers low-quality, unstylish goods with gimmicky promotions and terrible facilities. H+M appeals to young people with the façade of style, though their clothes are poorly-fitted and threadbare. A number of niche stores, like Fireworks (purveyor of awful kitsch) make the place feel like a joke. Whats lacking is a general culture of quality. You buy something here only to toss it out the next month, either because it falls apart or has no lasting appeal. Its about numbing oneself with the acquisition and disposal of money. Theyve got the terribly tacky stands in the middle of the hallways, replete with hawkers who attack you with drones or shine laser pointers in your eyes. Clear those out and the mall would be bearable. A few bright spots: the Apple Store, the only in south King County, and Nordstrom, which includes a Topshop. The reality is that this is the only comprehensive mall south of Seattle. Next time, the better idea is not to start with the idea of a sprawling mall, but to build out from a core of quality.

This mall has a great assortment of stores and activities to do thats ban all age groups. There are cute little motorized scooters for toddlers to pre teens that you can rent for a few minutes and they go a whopping three miles an hour but the kids love them. There is a fairly good nail salon. There is a fantastic Lego store with excellent customer service. They have a good variety of food Styles and types in their food court. The AMC has always had a really great customer service and is timely with their showings. The Container Store in this mall has Superior customer service as well as two parking slots dedicated for dropping in and picking up an order that you have placed online for in-store pickup. They will happily help you carry your items out and get them set in your car so that you can get out there in one trip. When Ive needed help carrying I have called the store ahead and actually have someone meet me at the lot by calling again when I was in one of the drop-off slots. Thats just what I call going above and beyond really excellent customer service from The Container Store.

Southcenter is and has always been the King of malls in the Seattle-Tacoma area. It puts Northgate,Alderwood,Crossroads,Westlake,Pacific Place,Factoria,Federal Way Commons, and the Auburn Supermall, now know as the "Seattle Outlets" to shame. When you go to those malls and you see empty spaces yet to be occupied and lack of crowds, you can blame Southcenter. Because of the central location and access from all major highways, I suspect that many people, regardless of where they live, make the trip to Tukwila, and ignore the local smaller malls that may be closer to them. The result is it seems Southcenter has been eating the other malls and just adding to itself. While other malls are regressing, Southcenter is getting bigger and better, adding more stores and restaurants. Hands down this is the best mall in the area, and if youre visiting from out of town, the only please you need to go for shopping. You could literally spend the whole day here. The food court is gigantic and offers a great selection of restaurants. The mall is very clean and is has a great layout.

There is a blight that hangs over the image of the South Center Mall, as most call it. It is a negative image that seems to be reinforced every holiday season with muggings, fights and major police actions. It is only natural that we as people tend to only remember the bad. However, has anyone taken a second to consider, or even notice, the millions of dollars in upgrades and redesigns that they have done at the place? I mean, it is beautiful on the inside. It has everything you could possibly want in a mall. Plus a place to get a message after a long day of throwing elbows trying to get the perfect toy for your child. The movie theater is first rate, the food court has comfortable seating areas that allow you to sit and people watch if you care to. So is that negative image deserved? Well, I wouldnt come here during the holidays...thats what the Internet is for. However, any other time, you may want to give it a try.

The mall has a wonderful variety of stores to find what youre looking for. I work at the southcenter mall and westfield is notorious for having cut-throat rents for tenants which add to the premium of shopping at the mall. The mall makes every attempt to keep their costs down like for example I work at a kiosk, and in the summer its nice to go to a place that has air conditioning. Well Southcenter does have A/C but it does not turn it on. So if youde like comfort of not sweating your @$$ off while youre walking... you may want to rethink coming to this mall. The kiosk I work at has a uniform that is basically a t-shirt, I wear slacks and we have clocked the inside temperture of the mall on a day where it was 70+ outside in the mall it was a pleasant 80 degrees at my kiosk. This added to the fact that the mall routinely gets shot up, you may want to wear a kevlar vest before coming.

Ive always gone to this mall before others, even before its large renovation. Wetzels Pretzels is the first stop I go to right after a movie on the third floor. From there on its shopping at your leisure from H&M, Fireworks Gallery, Journeys, Daiso, Nordstrom, Garage, Levis, Box Lunch, and so so SO much more. This mall has parking up the wazoo; only during the holiday season does it get tricky. There are plenty of restaurants within the mall vicinity (Cheesecake Factory, Olive Garden, and Bahama Breeze) and some are connected to building (Dukes, BJs, Blue C Sushi and more). Its easy to spend hours on end with lots of things to see. If youre up for a short drive, a few minutes away from the mall is more shopping (DSW, Nordstrom Rack, Best Buy, ToysRUs, and more) with lots more dining options (Claim Jumpers, Wingstop, Red Robin, Stanfords and more). 10/10 Would visit again.
