I grew up in Olympia and then moved out to spread my wings after college. I spent 10+ in a wonderful job where I traveled the US and some parts of the world. Every place I landed I would hunt for gaming stores (some times driving my rental car 60+ miles to get to one). I have found a total of four stores in all this time I would really say are great gaming stores and Gabis place is one of them. Im lucky that when I set down roots I moved back to Olympia and found Olympic had flourished while I was gone. The gaming space is large (and almost always full of people to play) and the comic selection is hard to rival. As a father of two pre-school kids it is nice to see Olmpic also caters to kids as well. Gabi (the owner) always keeps a selection of toys and comics for them and both my children enjoy visiting. I stop in a couple times a month and in no way consider myself a "regular" when it comes to the standards of geeks, but I am always welcomed by name from many different staff members and they even welcome my wife and kids by name too. I cannot say enough good about this business and I hope by reading my review of them you would consider giving them you patronage. They have earned mine and Im sure theyll do the same for you.

Olympic Cards and Comics is the best place to game bar-none. The owner (Gabi) is very kind and helpful. She has excellent staff members that will help you find anything you need, whether it is a Games Workshop product, Wizards of the Coast trading cards product, or anything to do with gaming, comics, manga, etc. The staff know their stuff, if one of them cant help you, they will direct you to somebody who is very knowledgeable on the subject. The store is absolutely ginormous, you could park a small plane in there. Wall-to-wall games, comics, action figures. They also have quite a few board games, from Catan to Axis and Allies, to games that you have never heard of (but are amazing, trust me). Every day they have a dedicated game-day. From magic, yu-gi-oh, to Warhammer (40k and fantasy). So you will have a lot of people to play with guaranteed on those days. Even if it is not a dedicated game day, you will be hard-pressed to not be able to find somebody there to play the more popular games with. Overall, Olympic Cards and Comics is a very professional establishment with very respectable and helpful staff members, definitely one of, if not the best, well run and friendly places to game in the Pacific Northwest.

This is a Meca for all table top gaming needs. They have everything you could want and if they dont, they can order it at a reasonable turn around time. They have different gaming nights every night from Magic the Gathering to Warhammer 40k. The next closest place (to my knowledge) is a Games Workshop up in Tacoma and its not even close to being as good of a store. Im not even referring to the convenience for those who live South of the Base, Im talking about the store itself is better, Just the front of the store is better than games workshop and the back is full of fun goods. Im not a comic book reader but one of my friends in the Army with me came down to check it out and they had exactly what he was looking for. Ive found some places a bit pushy, trying to get you not quite what you are looking for but not this place. Ive heard them so many times directing traffic to other stores that suit a customers needs far more than they could. They did it to me when I was looking for an air brush. This is the place to go for all your table top gaming needs.

I had ordered a book from this store on July 12, 2009 and paid for it. I have called numerous times to see if the book had arrived. I was given numerous excuses such as there was a derailment of a train in oregon and it would be late. Then when I went in today August 26, 2009 to see if they had the item they told me that they did not get it and that they could not order the item. They did call another book store in olympia wa and they had it in stock, but they expected me to go there and get it. I refused to go and get the item. As of right now they told me that it would be here by Friday. If I knew ahead of time that I would get a run around about an item that I ordered, I would have never gave them my business. They should have called me to let me know what is going on. They have my money and I have no book.

Ive been a customer of Gabbys for, what feels like, almost three decades. She has helped to shape my life into what it is today. Not just by granting me acceptance to my own fascinations, but through her show of hard work and determination as well. I dont simply go there for my Magic and X-Men fix, as was the primary goals of my youth; I go there for inspiration. I go there because I remember how many steps it has taken to get to a goal, like that which Gabby has built. As I slowly work toward the tireless goals of my life, I am reminded of the dedication that is required through Gabbys passion. She is the shining beacon of hope in an otherwise hard and gritty world. It is my church, and for it, I thank the high heavens.

This place has a bit of everything with a huge selection. Board games/cards, comics, super hero figures, collectable toys and nerd art. Small clothing section with tv, comics and movie themes. There is always something new every time I go. Prices are tyical but the clearance can be massive savings. Staff is very friendly. Other retail stores nearby could learn a thing or two from this team. The upstairs hosts board games with a small coffee area. They encourage browsing. Pull up a chair, grab a comic and get some ink on your hands. I hope we see comic stores like this remain in business for a long time to come.

When I visit OCC, its a 90-minute drive, meaning I dont visit often. But when I do, its always worth the visit. This is probably the largest, best-stocked game store in Western Washington and home to the most avid gamer communities one could seek to play with. The owner, Gabi, is made of all that is awesome, a veritable mother-figure to the gaming community. This is a family-friendly place, great for bringing your kids or just snagging a snack and a cup of coffee over a checked-out game from her extensive boardgames library. Seriously, this is an incredible game store.

An amazing comic book and game shop in Lacey, WA! This store has everything you could want. Very friendly, knowledgable and helpful staff. The owner, Gabi, was there and was so helpful. One of the store associates, Sam, was super helpful as well. He knew exactly what I was looking for and guided me to what I wanted and made great suggestions in my search. This store has a huge selection of games, comics and collectibles. I wish I had more time to comb the store on my visit, since Im from out of town. But if Im ever back in town, Ill be visiting this store.
