I am torn in the middle when I write this review. The employees are very friendly and helpful. However I feel like the animals could be in better condition. They have the chinchilla and the sugar gliders near the bird cages. Chinchillas and sugar gliders are nocturnal. Why place the nocturnal animals right next to the loud chirping birds? It causes extreme stress for the chinchilla and sugar gliders, you can tell the animals are stressed because as soon as you walk past either of the critters they lash in a defensive act. You dont even have a nice "hideaway" hut for the chinchilla to relax in. The chinchilla has no privacy except for his bath house. I would be more than willing to buy the chinchilla a shelter so he can have a privacy hut. Also the times that I have visited I have not seen anything for the chinchilla to chew on to grind his teeth down. I would also be more than willing to buy it chew sticks/blocks! Im serious! Please reply back to my review if you would like to take me up on my offer to purchase the stuff for the chinchilla. Edit: I got a question how come it smells like straight up ammonia by the mice/rat section? Do you really let the urine and feces build up that bad before cleaning out their cages? Changing to a 1 star.

I stop in every once and awhile to see if anything has changed. The cages are all right next to one another and dirty. I once bought a guinea pig from there when i was younger and it had some kind of mite all over it. I took that one back and got another and it had the same thing. All the fish I ever purchased there died soon after I brought them home. Only a few people that work there are actually kind but none of them are very knowledgeable. I bought my first iguana there and the woman suggested I feed it dehydrated crickets as a treat but I found out later that iguanas were strictly vegetarians and it got sick and died soon after it came home also. Live crickets always run around on the floors and on cages. The only thing Ive purchased there that didnt have anything wrong with it was a Cockatiel and that was because they had just got them in that day from the breeder. I wish that the Pet World on J Clyde was still there. They had a much better store and staff.

Went to get a dumbo rat and a couple other rats. Well the dumbo rat died a week after - showed no symptoms that anything was even wrong - no sneezing or anything! Now we have the other three rats and they are so mean! I have had rats that bit in the past but these actually lunge and bite my arm. I hate to bring tem back due to the conditions they were in but they are just too mean. Also it is way too hot in there for most f the animal especially the Chinchilla! I walked in a check to see if the poor Chinchilla was even alive due to him not moving - He only looked up at me but didnt move - I understand they sleep during the day but my concern was the heat could be bothering the poor guy. I would adopt him but the charge is pretty crazy plus I fear something ay also be wrong with him and I dont want my Chinchillas to catch anything.

Ive had quite a few bad experiences there and I feel as though its time I warn future customers.Ive gotten fish and reptiles there. The fish died within 10mins of being in the tank and I tried to get a turtle before and the first time I got the turtle it didnt do anything didnt have any energy so figured it was depressed.so I took it back and got a refund.then I tried to get another one this time was much worse. The Western painted turtle was sick, loss of appetite, not very energetic. After having it for a couple days I decided to take it back.It didnt eat anything I offered it.They have the adult turtles in the same small tank.Juvenile and adult turtles are very territorial. But the staff dont really have any education about turtles. To me they seem like they get the turtles out of a point, swamy or ditch. The turtles look so unhealthy.

Hadnt been in there in awhile. Its a little bit better than the last time Id been in there. I just wish they would put some wheels or something in the mice cages... Theres still a lot of work that needs to be done and its quite hot in there... Id say at least 77°+ Cages are a bit beat up and in all honesty.. it could be WAY better.. I hope it continues to improve though Im still disappointed. When I asked the people at the front if they sold fancy mice they were very rude and responded with a "we only have feeder mice, everything you see is what we have" in a kind of what an idiot! tone. VERY upset at the condition of the animals.

I find the people that work there very rude, mostly one women. She didnt want to open the cage with the ball pythons in it unless i was going to buy it. I wasnt going to buy a snake with mouth/scale rot or with a RI so obviously i wanted to check out the bp first. i do not like how they house their reptiles. The poor russian tortoise did not have a hide or UBV light. They had multiple ball pythons in one cage and by multiple i mean over 10, not just 3 or 4. The whole place smelled. It is just disgusting and could use some serious work.

I loved the way everything was kept, clean and neat. All of the fish tanks looked algae free, all reptile cages were perfect, all of the animals looked healthy and happy, and a massive selection of cages and decorations. This would be the go to place for this area for any fish or reptile needs. Maybe not for cats and dogs though. Im pretty sure that is what the Pet Co. around the corner is only good for. The employees could possibly be a bit more active and nicer, and interact with customers, but I wouldnt say they are rude.

Mom and Pop style pet store with great selection of mammals and fish. Some reptiles and birds. Staff knowledgeable and helpful, but not overly friendly. Small selection of pet food, but has some interesting cages and accessories. Unfortunately, cannot compete with big box stores for pricing. Petting and socialization of bunnies and guinea pigs encouraged so fun to drop in for fluffy therapy. Caged mammals not kept in optimal living conditions, and can sometimes be in state of neglect/unclean or unsanitary.

Broken down cages? Mess all over the place? Mistreating the animals while you move them from one shoddy cage to another? If thats what youre looking for, Pet World at Denbigh/Warwick is the place! Birds with barely enough room to spread their wings can make you a large profit if you find people with enough money and not enough sense to come in and look at them before they croak. You dont have to take my word for it, you can visit yourself. Maybe with a representative of the Humane Society in tow?

I only really come here for crickets (because its all I ever need for a low-maintenance gecko), but I highly recommend them for that because their large crickets are huge and beefy, easily twice the size of Petsmarts/Petcos larges, for the same price. Have never waited more than 2 minutes for service in this shop either, which is WAY more than I can say for big box pet stores. Thanks Pet World!
