Lets put some clarity here on hope thrift being a store that is anything more than a regular thrift store that is a "FOR PROFIT" store. They are not linked anyway to the church except for the volunteers are mostly members of Hope Church and the foundlings are members of the church. the church is Non-Profit not the thrift store. I used to work there so I know. Now that; that is cleared up. Let me say this, I love the store and the volunteers. Considering now that there are only 3 paid positions and that is the manager and 2 assistant managers and the rest are volunteers, I find that amazingly refreshing. The store is always full of volunteers that are all, and I do mean all in a great mood, it is the feeling in the store. You pray before the store opens and once it is closed for the day. It is just amazing how this thrift store sometimes can have too many volunteers lol. The management is unbelievable, they are helpful in any way you want, even if they are having a donation of huge pieces of furniture you have volunteers doing that hard work. The store also have a program that takes in youths that need to do community service and you will find by the time it is time they leave that have joined in the good mood attitude and got a sense of worth by working at the store with everyone and they have had a few stay on. They do have high prices I agree, but think about the location of the store and what the rent has to be, plus the phone, electric which is really high, the maintenance costs and cleaning supplies and yes a lot of times volunteers will ask if they can clean the bathrooms or such and of course they are told no because they value them and wouldnt want anyone to have to do such a job but the paid managers which I find very nice. They never push any of the volunteers to attend their church. they are not preachy unless those that go to the church, talking amongst themselves about the Lord and how much good they are going to get done with the ministry of the month. This is where all profits for the day go to whatever ministry has been selected for that month. Also they have a great day where all the clothing is $1.00 except for formal wear and couture items. You may think the prices are high but like I said think about the costs they have at the store plus management pay, plus the fact that they help people who have lost everything due to fire or other personal reasons. They store also lose a whole days worth of income on Ministry of the month day and last but not least, they are honest, sincere and offer quality items, not the junk found at most thrift stores. I hope this has helped clear the air and just know that even if you dont buy anything they are just as nice as they are to people who do. :) It is worth the trip just to go into a feel good store and meander around. The items are very high quality and the people down there know their stuff and if they dont they will always take you to someone that would know. I love going in, though due to my disability that has been getting worse, I have not been able to go in as much as I used to but when I do I find it the same loving energy as soon as I walk through those doors. I hope you take the time to visit when you can, it is my choice of a thrift store for life.

Love this thrift store! The people accepting donations are ALWAYS so happy and thankful. Also, really appreciate the community and ministry opportunities there. Almost the entire store is run by volunteers (such a great model for serving and for community service needs)! A great time to visit is during their dollar days or their ministry-of-the-month (one Saturday a month). During their minsitry-of-the-month day, the store will donate their proceeds to local ministries, missionaries, and community development-focused organizations. It is definitely the most organized, well-displayed thrift store Ive been to!

+JMJ Very nice thrift store that has a department store arrangement and easy going atmosphere. Very nicely arranged with lots and lots of reasonably priced merchandise. I usually went in looking for shoes, assessories and clothing. But they do have an amazing collection of fine dining merchandise and a pretty good sized book department. The staff were helpful and friendly. They did not hover over you, but were ready available to help. I have moved from Richmond, but if I am ever able to return for a visit, I hope to have time to pay them a shopping visit.

Awful! Never go here! They are very overpriced and the employees are rude. I returned an item that was broken and they complained about it insisting I could fix it myself. After returning to the store next week, they put the broken item back out for sale. Something just seems wrong with a CHURCH thrift store that gets all their stuff for free and charges retail prices. Not to mention all their employees are volunteers, which makes their high prices even more ridiculous. I recommend going elsewhere, you can get better prices anywhere else!

This is not your average, trashy thrift store. This is very well maintained establishment with dedicated volunteers running the show. All proceeds go to an awesome church that truly makes a difference in Richmond communities. Put your money where your heart is.

One of the best thrifts in Richmond. Vintage, antique, new, and used items for sale. Some items a bit overpriced.

Excellent items. Great staff. Good cause. The prices are not really at what I would call "thrift" prices.
