This shop is amazing. Ron, the owner is a commuter, a triathlete, a citizen activist on behalf of cyclists in the region and he just won the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce- "Eco-Friendly Business of The Year" for 2011-2012 which is proudly displayed on the counter. I saw that they use and sell environmentally cleaners and lubes and 100% of their power from Dominion is from alternative sources. They are affordable, and his staff are knowledgeable, extremely friendly and attentive. You will be surprised just what this shop stocks for its size, all top quality and if they dont have it they will get it for you ASAP. I heard off the grapvine they restore antique bikes and one of only 3 shops in the area renting wetsuits, travel cases and the only shop I know renting highend carbon wheels for racing! Their repair prices cant be beat and after checking on Washington Checkbook Magazine (the prestigious non-profit consumer advocacy group) they are ranked in the top 15 shops out of 53 in the DC/NoVA area for value and service. I strongly recommend this shop for all your cycling needs. I saw LRs review below and just cant see this as accurate, most likely this individual was asking for champange service at budwiser prices. Local shops are gems and worthy of supporting, remember they hire local, pay taxes to support your town, do good deeds within the community and will return the loyalty when you become a regular in small but important ways. Online sites do none of the above. Its worth paying a lil more to keep an LBS in business!

Wheel Nuts is the absolute best! I wish they were a litte closer but thats ok. They have some of friendliest employees and the owner is a great guy who knows that a good business is about caring. I rented a road bike from them recently and they offered me a great rate as well as swapped my pedals out for no charge. Then I forgot the helmet when I dropped the bike off and they didnt charge for another day, they just told me to bring it back the next day. I know that sounds simple but it was a big gesture. I just got a new road bike and I didnt purchase it from them but only because the deal I got on it was insane and there was NO way they could match it. But I wanted to know my size. No other shop in the area would fit me for a bike unless I bought one and they wouldnt even talk to me on the phone about sizing unless I was going to buy from them. I called up Wheel Nuts and talked to one of their head guys (forgot his name but weve talked before) and he gave me some great pointers. I told him my height, my style, the bike I was looking at, etc. and he knew exactly the right info to give me. He also knew he wasnt going to get a sale from that BUT he knew that the help he was giving me was more valuable than a bike sale. Im a customer for life. Come visit them and say hi. Get a tune up or buy some tire levers. This shop is the real deal and they deserve your money.

Yesterday was my first day to commute to work - a 12 mile trek from Arlington to National Harbor. On my ride home, I had a tire blowout on the Wilson Bridge at 8:15pm. (I had waited to leave until it was a tad cooler.) I change my tire. But failed. In Old Town it’s flat again. But I remember Wheel Nuts was on the trail! Hoping they are still open – but knowing they probably aren’t, I cruise up at 8:45 pm… They close at 7:00 pm but the door is cracked and there’s a party inside… I was warmly greeted by a triathalon club having their happy hour and the store owner, Ron, was so helpful. I was offered a beer and food while I waited. It turns out my tire beading had shredded. Ron fixed my tire while hosting a party. I am now all set with a commuter tire. I am very very grateful for the hospitality of Wheel Nuts and the happy hour crew for letting me crash a private after hours event to get my bike ready to roll!! Smooth ride back home to Arlington last night albeit much later that I set out for! Thanks Wheel Nuts!!

I normally do not write Google Reviews. I am inclined to write a review here because this business should be recognized. I am a novice pedal biker, I have a bike that I got at one of those big box stores and the brakes were not working. The guy that worked there looked at it and fixed the issue in less then 3 minutes. He did not charge me and explained to me how to properly shift gears and adjust the brakes. The problem with my bike was a simple fix and this place could have easily charged me an arm and a leg, because I did not know any better. Kind of like the stereotypical housewife that knows nothing about cars and gets ripped off by a mechanic. This shop seems to be ran by some good people and if I have a legitimate issue (or if I need a real tune-up) with my bike, and am in the NOVA/DC Area, I will not hesitate to give them my business. Its refreshing to see a good honest business that still exists.

I normally use Big Wheel Bikes on Prince street but figured I would shop around a little for price. I know other folks report receiving excellent service but I guess they didnt order their bikes online. When I went in to price putting together a bike I ordered online he went on the offensive and said if Id bought my bike from him I would get 10% off accessories and if I wanted a discount store I should go to Sams club. I know local bike shops dont like folks who buy bikes online but none of the LBS had what I wanted for what I could afford and I still need an LBS for adjustments, accessories, upgrades, and rentals for when friends and families come into town. I certainly did not expect to need to be "educated" as he put it; not a good way to make or keep business! Ill stick with Big Wheel Bikes on Prince Street; they are happy to put my bike together and always provide great customer service.

Every time I stop by Wheel Nuts the service is outstanding. The staff is friendly and sincere, and they perform high quality work with a quick turnaround time. Ron, the owner, is very knowledgeable and he always remembers my name, even after the second and third visit, and I am not a very outgoing person :) It just shows that he takes an interest in his customers and truly wants them to be happy! Over the past few years they have helped me with everything from small repairs, tune ups, and also did a rehaul on my road bike after an accident for a very reasonable price. It is always a pleasure stopping in there, and I will not be taking my bikes anywhere else for this reason!

They Know Customer Service!!! I recently had two road bikes worked on at this shop and could not be happier, with the service, the staff, and the prices!!! A bike fit for under a C-note, who does that anymore? Ron Taylor (owner) is a Fit GURU!!!. Ron is complimented very nicely by Ray, his trusty right-hand fix-it man. These two gents know their stuff and take their time with the customer to ensure all their needs are satisfied. So, if you find yourself in the Old Town Alexandria VA area and in need of some bike TLC, stop by Wheel Nuts Bike Shop; you will not regret it!!!
