Beautiful new craft coffee and cocktail bar in downtown Salem. They focus on quality not only in their drinks and food, but also in their staff. They are super knowledgeable and really do deserve the title "artisan" of their craft. They do not just serve coffee and cocktails, but understand and are enriched by it. As someone from Seattle where we are accustomed to that kind of craftsmanship, its always good to find those craft places in smaller towns as well that care about a good, quality product. They do have small plates and the food is good, but keep in mind this isnt a full-fledged restaurant or bakery that focuses solely on food or pastries. Their focus is coffee and cocktails :) Service is very friendly and knowledgeable. Even their owners, Justin, Kira, Jesse - that are all over the bar - are super approachable. And the crowd was good too! Packed house but no one was bumping into me or being rude. A very friendly, respectful crowd that was easy-going and easy to start conversations with. This is a brand new spot so there will still be a few kinks to work out, but all in all this is the spot to be at in Salem day and night. I look forward to coming back!

Coffee by day, trendy bar by night. Good coffee, although a bit on the expensive side--but, its the service, ingredients, and coffee expertise that makes it worth it. You can tell the owners know what theyre doing when it comes to drinks, ingredients, and technique--its almost borderline obsessive, which is super nice if you are looking for that. Its also the best coffee shop to work in during the day, as its social, but large enough to not be stuffy or overly loud. But, its evenings when this place really shines. Although they have a few yummy food choices on the menu, its their bar service and ambiance that sets them far, far apart from other establishments in Salem. The rotating mixed drink selection is always brilliant and surprising. The bartenders are knowledgable and love to talk about different spirits, ingredients, techniques, etc. You always have the opportunity to be wowed, and they have a giant selection of top notch, and sometimes rare, spirits. This place belongs in Portland--Salems lucky to have it.

Walked into the bar, 3 other couples at table, and no one at the bar. We were not greeted, sat ourselves, finally were given a menu, and took our drink order. My associate ordered the beef item on the menu, but came back and said they were out. So she ordered the pork belly steam bums, and I ordered the pork charred rice. We waited for quite awhile for our order, and they finally brought hers out. She found the pork to be rather fatty and gristle. My order came about 5-7 minutes later. A cup sized mound of rice, sauce, shredded fresh veggies, and a bacon strip sized piece of meat. Menu states, bakkwa (Chinese pork jerky), more like a piece of bark. Soft boiled egg, which I found none, and tonkatsu(deep fried pork loin) none. But maybe they mentioned to state, tonkatsu sauce. Small portion, and expensive.

Best coffee in town, best mixed drinks in town, and a good selection of craft beer, too. They dont have a wide variety of food, so if you want dinner, go somewhere else. This is a coffee shop/bar with limited food selections for those who want something to eat with their drink. (That said, those limited food selections are awesome.) Also, its expensive. But quality costs. If you are the sort of person who enjoys a bargain more than well-honed execution, there are several other establishments in Salem that you would probably prefer. Personally, I would put this up against any place in PDX. The owners and staff really care about their product, and their innovation is to be commended.

Great coffee bar. We tried the cappuccino and the cafe latte; they were exquisite. The ambience is lovely and this is an enchanting spot to hang out in on a rainy day. The service is great and the prices are just right too! Theres xfinity wifi available so I could imagine spending a whole day here working or just chilling out. It has beverages and eats for every time of the day, so there really is no bad time to check Archive out. Although we didnt try out any of the alcoholic drinks, they seem to have a wide variety of scotch whiskey and other liquor. Its very tastefully designed and really the perfect place in Salem to kill time.

Setting the standard for coffee and customer service!! Archive has always been a top end experience!! I Love their ambiance, their pastries and of course their coffee! I am addicted to both the shaken cappuccino and the iced mocha and (confession time here...) usually end up with one of each before my visit is over. Bar side you will find deliciously unique options and most importantly a very dedicated and well informed staff!!! And of course... Taco Tuesday! Some of the most delicious tacos I have experienced and at only $2 each!

The food wasnt very good and was small n in proportion. The music was too loud given that we were theyre for their nerd night and Id theyre gonna host they really should reduce the music. The waitress forgot two orders, accidentally closed a tab she doesnt need to, then forgot to reopen it when the guy asked for more stuff. That being said the atmosphere ours super hip. Im told the coffee is amazing so Ill be trying that when I return in two weeks for need night (after pre-eatting).

The best coffee in Salem. It is really the only specialty coffee shop in Salem. The coffee is very good, they roast their own beans and have proper equipment to prepare quality high end coffee. They do not make their drinks overly sweet, which is an adjustment for some people in Salem. All the treats are gluten free and super yummy which is a big attribute as well. The interior is attractive and overall a great place to meet friends, do work, or just stop in for a true Americano.

This place is usually packed, but the food is very mediocre, and our waitress was almost rude! Our appetizer plate of meats and cheeses was nothing spectacular, and came less than 30 seconds before our dinners arrived. The caprese pizza was bland and pretty tasteless, the mushroom burger was more the size of a slider! Saving grace was the shoestring frenchfries, which were perfectly done, saving dinner from being a complete disappointment. Wont bother going there again.

My wife and I stumbled upon this place one day and it was better than any expectations I had. The atmosphere is great, very calming and decorated in a beautiful way. Books everywhere, fun stuff on the shelves (like old National Geographic Volumes), books you can buy. The coffee was a highlight, as i find it hard to come across good baristas let alone a good roast, but Archive has both. And a bar in a coffee shop? Great idea. Will definitely be coming back again soon.

Archive was a NEEDED destination in downtown Salem. Nothing like it really. Great look and feel for the upstairs restaurant and bar, awesome basement bar available as well for special events and certain times of the week. It is a very comfortable feel combining spacious room, but still keeping an intimate feel when on a date. Drinks are very clever, creative, and fresh as are the menu items. Love these young folks vision that started this place.
