I want to like this business because I want to support my neighborhood and I want it to feel like community, especially since this is a key anchor across from the Growers Outlet (awesome), but I cannot vouch for the 162nd Glisan Market. The owners are not welcoming and the older gentleman in particular is often curt and overtly suspicious of the customers that come into purchase something. Further, I cant stand when I walk to the counter, have something rung up without a word spoken, and then get stared at without even a request for an amount. This is the closest convenience store to where I live, but I actually go out of my way to avoid it solely because of the service I receive. Its one thing to experience a grumpy clerk at a chain convenience store like Plaid, but for a family owned business Id hope for better. If youre in the area and you want to support a local mom and pop, the alternative Ive landed on is the Halsey Street market on 172nd and Halsey. The owner greets me when I walk in, is friendly and engaged, and treats me like he actually appreciates my business.

Awful service and extremely rude. Also what kind of store sells an item and then informs a customer that their purchase is too small to serve them? If you have that item in the store, I should I have the right to buy it (laffy taffy). I just grabbed my money and walked right out. No family owned store should ever treat customers so rudely. I support neighborhood markets, but I definitely do NOT support this one. Avoid this market at all costs and choose to go a little further. This market deserves to go out of business.

Only went into this place once, but the vibe I got was pretty dank. This place is conveniently placed in my neighborhood, but lacks a friendly feel, the kind I like to get when I visit my neighborhood convenience store. So, needless to say, Ive since wandered my way around to Harrys joint on 172nd and Halsey, where I can get all of my convenience shopping done and leave smiling. Now, thats a win!

Why are there no reviews? The family that owns this buisness is super awesome and friendly as well as having good prices on cigarettes and beer. Pretty much a staple of the neighborhood.

I have lived in the neighborhood for years. The family that owns it is super sweet. Always friendly and their shelves are always stocked and the store is clean. This is my GO TO market!
