Weve recently been looking for a new truck. This location has a large inventory of used pick-up trucks so we decided to visit in hopes of finding one. As luck would have it we found a beautiful Dodge Ram 1500 that had a large sticker that stated, "One owner." Like most car lot experiences, negotiations is where everything turned sour. At most locations theres a system in place, a way of doing things. First negotiations on your trade, initial investment, monthly payment and sale price are established. Only after those 4 things are worked out should your credit be run to qualify for a loan. ALL NEGOTIATION WAS SKIPPED. We were told to pre-qualify for an auto loan, and after providing our information, it still took over an hour before we were addressed. During that time we had plenty of time to inspect the vehicle. While looking through everything I decided to inspect the owners manual which was in the glove compartment. Thats when I found a purchase order back from May of 2013. Turns out, 2.5 years ago the vehicle was sold from this location for just under $19,300. Kinda unnerving that Im told its only had one owner. On top of that, the currently listing price (2.5 years after it sold for $19,300) is $19,995. The sales person Tim, was very low pressure (thanks Tim), but when it comes time to work the numbers, I dont need an education when it comes to Kelly Blue Book. For anyone that doesnt know, KBB is nothing but a guideline for banks to know how much to finance a vehicle for. When Tim had based his whole negotiation tactics on that fact, I had to stop him short (of his 10 minute demonstration of wholesale book vs retail) to let him know the value in which his company owned the vehicle versus the list price and my offer had nothing to do with blue book. In the end, my reasonable offer of $17,500 was declined and I left. It blows my mind that a company can try and sell the same vehicle 2.5 years apart for a higher value. Today it has 20,000+ extra miles and its that much older. Im very grateful that the few years I spent selling cars helped me evade a potentially unfair deal. I feel very sorry for folks that only buy a car once every 5 years and have no experience dealing with these high stress scenarios. Especially because of the low stress environment they use in their sales tactics.

We’ve had a great experience at Crocker’s. We were looking for a used truck for some weeks now, mainly in online platforms (e.g. dealer websites, cargurus, autotrader, carsforsale, craigslist, kbb, nadaguides…). We did not have any concrete price negotiations at another store, yet, but we had a rough overview about what was offered on the market in this region. Still, this specific truck did not catch our eyes, since it was posted on online platforms without pictures. But, as we passed by, we just stopped and gave it a test drive. Corey was very friendly although it was pretty late. It was not the first Dodge Ram I sat in, but the first I drove, so I cannot compare in that matter with other experiences, but despite the age the exterior and the interior were still in good shape and it ran great. We spent a few days thinking about the truck and returned. We then spoke to Chris who was also really nice. He gave us the Carfax report and recent safety inspection documentation. We felt they were honest about the truck, and Chris was very friendly during price negotiations. On top, they gave us a bedliner. Chris and Corey were also helpful on the telephone, when we had questions. So, altogether we are happy that we bought our truck at Crocker’s.

I came to the realization rather quickly, that I made a huge mistake in trusting Crockers. Many vehicles are purchased in Spokane at auction - most come from Canada, Northern Washington, and Idaho. Others may be distressed merchandise that the owner of Crockers purchased for pennies on the dollar. Many of these vehicles may have been in accidents, acquired rust damage, or have known mechanical issues. Several motorhomes and trailers may have previous water damage. Do yourself a favor. Before you purchase anything from Crockers, have a trusted mechanic due an inspection. Get a carfax. Know the book value of your trade, and the value of the vehicle you want to buy. Look for rust damage, new undercoating, and water damage. Know your credit score and interest rate! Absolutely do not purchase any warranty offered by the Sales Manager/Finance Manager. I learned the hard way. Hopefully I can save some folks from being taken advantage of.

In reference to the review submitted prior to this one, by Jess Boysen, readers should be aware that this individual is not, nor has he ever been a customer of Crockers Cars, and in actuality, is a previous employee who, apparently, cant seem to get over things and move on. It is worthy of noting how he states that he "quickly came to the realization that he could not trust Crockers...." when he was employed there for a full year before being terminated, ironically, over his extremely poor customer relations skills.
