I am long overdue to write about my familys very favorite place to eat in all of Portland, The South Store Café! If you are looking for a place that feels like you walked into a home where family are cooking a breakfast, lunch, or pastry better than you could ever dream of doing at home, look no further. I am a loyal person who wants to get to know my dentist well, the person who cuts my hair, and the people who prepare the food that my family eats well ... like friends, like family, familiar faces that welcome you the moment you walk through the door. The food is delicious, simple, made with fresh ingredients, and always consistent. We honestly have not had one bad dish! Some of our favorites are their quiches, Italian Torta, biscuits & gravy, sausage & mushroom strata, their French Breakfast Sandwich, their DELICIOUS homemade soups (Chicken + Artichoke soup is my daughters favorite), or even their simple, but yummy house-made granola. Oh, and their coffee drinks are wonderful too! The South Store Café feels like home away from home for us. Do yourself a favor and check them out. They have a special sandwich too each week and they make the best Chimichurri sauce for one of them. You are sure to be greeted by the person I see as their mascot, Karl, so introduce yourself when you drop by. The owner is in the kitchen doing her magic!

Hands down our favorite breakfast spot in the area. We come here more weekends than not as a family to enjoy the masterfully crafted pastries, quiches, stratas, tarts, cookies, and espresso. There is literally not a single bad item on the menu - whatever you get will be your favorite and you are guaranteed to enjoy it more than youve enjoyed anything in a long time! This cafe is not to be missed. The entire staff is also warm and friendly and they know us so well that they have our order memorized and our espresso drinks ready to hand to us as we walk up :)

Great stop during a bike ride. They make a GREAT cappuccino and the pastries are all freshly baked and they use local seasonal fruits when available. Arrive early or you will have to wait and the pastries will be gone. Soups and salads are delicious; I have not tried the weekend breakfast menu (other than pastries) so I am looking forward to that some time in the future. Atmosphere is country and homey and outdoor seating available on nice days. Also a nice stop when picking berries or apples across the street.

This is one place that I truly look forward to visiting every chance I can get. Their white chocolate mochas are consistently the best around, even better than Starbucks, and all the sandwiches and soups are also outstanding and taste fresh. I have never been dissapointed with any pastry - they are moist, rich in flavor, and a nice variety - and this is a true compliment considering I grew up in a bakery. Service is always friendly, and the atmosphere inviting. Definitely come here if you havent already.

Even though we got there 15 minutes before closing they were willing to stay and serve some of the best food that I have eaten. I normally would of left because I think that is wrong to show up before closing, but they welcomed us in. A must try is the soup and sandwich if you ever go. Staff was friendly and helpful. Another great thing that I noticed but didnt get was they had laurelwood work horse beer which is a local Portland beer that is hard to find because its sold out all the time.

A very favorite place! Great soups and breakfast still; and Im sure much more as well! Im rather stuck on my favorites and only venture to something new when they are sold out for the day! Which does happen, so do stop by and enjoy; and bet itll become your new favorite too! Think the regulars are reticent to publish; as some days you can barely get in the door as it is! But these guys deserve to be known by more this us (keep a good thing to ourselves regulars)

Finally ditched the kids so we could eat here. Fantastic local experience. Great food, lovely atmosphere. The wife and I chatted and ate and drank our lattes at our leisure. Great setting in our home are which is farm country and vineyard country. The setting couldnt be better. Well bring guests here from now on, and maybe even the kids!

My friend and I were looking for a quick bite to eat as we were exploring the beautiful countryside and we happen to stumble upon this amazing place. We were overly delighted to find its charm and food were both equally matched. We had amazing service and the pumpkin spice latte was to die for, definitely coming back!

A cute little spot out in the "country" that serves a wonderful assortment of delicious food. The staff and environment are both warm and inviting. A great little gem of a place to visit if youre out and about in rural Washington County.

The menu is pretty simple, but they serve EXCELLENT soups and sandwiches! They make something quite ordinary (like tuna melt or BLT) be something quite tasty. Dont forget to get a cookie on the way out (if theyre not sold out yet).

We had a bachelorette brunch here, and it was PERFECT! Great munchies (scones, muffins, pastries), great sandwiches and even better beverages. I had the iced chai, and the bride-to-be had a mimosa with fresh blackberries in it! Yum!

Off the beaten path, breakfast in the country. Every time we visit, its like home. Great people, and even better food. The dishes are inexpensive, but you pay for quality food. No complaints, only smiles and happy stomachs.
