Went in and bought a new bike, Was told that it would be about two weeks for delivery(Special order), so I was pleasantly surprised when I received an Email 4 days later that the bike was at the store and ready for pick-up, All good so far. Because of time constraints I was not able to get to the store for two days, so when I got to the store I was informed that the bike had a defective shifter and that it was going to take 7 business days for one to show up, I was planning to take this bike out for its maiden voyage that evening but obviously not able to. I was then told that I was welcome to take the mis-functioning bike and use it till the shifter came in, (REALLY), this is when I became slightly irritated and told the mechanic that they needed to figure out a way to Expedite the repair, To which they were able to put their heads together and figure out that they could take a shifter off of a floor model and repair it that way (This still took an additional day). This left me wondering Since this was a (BRAND NEW, NEVER LEFT THE STORE BIKE) why in the interest of their customers experience that they didnt just overnight ship a shifter in. This whole time the store Obviously had both my phone number and my email address and I was never contacted so when I went in to get the bike the first time , It was a waste of my time and gas to get to the store and back home. This is my second bad experience with Performance Bicycles (Beaverton Ore.) and makes me wonder if I am frequenting the wrong LBS. By the way The Bike is awesome!

went in to buy a bike for my 14 yo daughter. Staff avoided me for 15 minutes until I asked for "help to buy a bike". Got directed to person who immediately showed me the best bike to buy. It cost about $570 which I was OK with. When I asked why this bike is better than the other one beside it, a Diamondback with disk brakes, front suspension etc, they said "well every manufacturer prices their bikes a little differently." I explained that the engineering cost of the other bike is obviously higher, and both were brand name bikes, so asked again why they reccomend the lower configured bike over the one next to it. No facts or clue so they said "I better get that guy over there to help". Well...that guy came over with a grim look on his face. I asked if he knew anything abiut the Diamondback bike. He said "I built it!! I know everything about it". What he meant was he unpacked it, straigtened up the bars and tightened a few bolts. In the end I bought the one I considered to be the best value/quality (am an engineer not bicycle expert). The buying transaction was more painful than the selection process if you can believe it...no clue about warranty but said "if you dont like it bring it back". DONT BUY HERE UNLESS YOU EXPECT LESS SERVICE/SKLL LEVEL THAN STARBUCKS DRIVE THROUGH. STARBUCKS IS GREAT BTW BUT A TOP OF RANGE PRODUCT FROM THEM IS ABOUT 5 BUCKS NOT 500 LIKE FROM THIS BIKE SHOP, SO CALL ME CYNICAL, BUT I EXPECTED BETTER SERVICE THAN STARBUCKS FOR PRODUCT THAT COSTS 100 TIMES MORE

I had previously purchased two bikes for my twins through your store. Lots of claims of how Performance was going to provide us with top notch, full service. This last weekend I brought in my daughters bike to have a stem riser installed to raise her handlebars as she has had a growth spurt and wanted to sit up higher without changing her riding geometry. Simple problem, simple solution. When I talked to the mechanic about it, he looked at me like I had just stepped off the moon. He said they didnt carry a stem riser (a very common part) and that I should purchase a new bike instead. He was quite gruff about it and abruptly turned his back to talk to one of the other guys in the "service" department. Needless to say I wheeled the bike out the door. I have ordered the part online and will fix the bike myself. Thanks for all your help Performance!! Obviously you dont know the meaning of the word. In the future I will be taking my business elsewhere - with 11 year old twins, that will mean several bikes over the next few years. I would suggest some customer service training is warranted. And in reading other posted reviews, it looks like mine is not an isolated incident. A 3.5 star rating is not something to be very proud of. Good luck.

So Performance was having a sale, a really good sale. Living outside of PDX by over 80 miles I called ahead to the Hall Blvd. Store. Ryan, the mechanic answered the phone and talked with me for about 10 minutes and reserved a bike for me. We showed up Sunday afternoon and happened to get a salesman named Johnny who came right up to us and asked if we needed help. Not only did Johnny stay with us for over a hour, one on one, he called around and found a bike at another Performance shop (Tualatain) that we needed, Johnny also fitted my 2 teenage kids and wife with the exact fit and size of bike they needed.. We also received a discount by the Manager Jarel, after we ended up purchasing 4 bikes. I shopped for about a month beforehand and knew what it was going to cost to gear up my family with bikes-there was no way I could beat the deal I got! I needed a rack to get all our bikes home, and again received one on one help and even was allowed to borrow a wrench to assemble the rack in the store. These guys are friendly (no snobs like so many PDX LBS) helpful and there is no way I could have found a better deal. I left with 4 bikes, saved over $1000 off the list price, and $600 in store credit. Whats not to Like? Way to go Performance!

Their phone service is great. When I called to see if they had the tire and tube I needed available they went and checked and were most friendly over the phone. However, when I went to the shop all employees where in a lackadasical state with other customers and even after I expressed my sense of urgency I had little response. All I needed was them to verify that I was purchasing the correct tire for my bike. I went ahead and purchased the tire after confirmation that it was the correct one from an employee I flagged down who was just coming back from lunch. After waiting 5 more min to purchase the item with a total of 5 people in the store, I then proceeded to sit on their in store bench and change my tire/tube while the service department made some crack comment at me because he wouldnt pump my tire up because he didnt install it, lame. He let me use his pump and the guy that initially helped came over and made sure everything was legit. Overall, I would not come back here if I had any other choice. This is a weak suburb bike store, I live in the city and you cant get anyway with stuff like that in Portland, no way!
