Ive been to WFs in NY, MD, VA, CA and TX (state of origination). Yes this is one of the smaller stores in my experience and some of the employees arent so friendly. As this is the closest WFs to where I live (Montclair) it seems that some of the employees are on guard because there is a good amount of customers who are demanding, rude and impatient. I decided to leave this review because the Shop Rite has a better overall rating and I I know thats not a fair/accurate comparison. WFs is more expensive than other stores. They are the only grocer I know that donates to local charities and schools. They also buy directly from growers to ensure fair market trade, i.e higher price at the register. They have womens small business training (and loans) so that women everywhere can be self reliant. They have the largest selection of organic produce and the store gets commercial produce from farmers who cant afford the organic certification process but are organic or very close to it. I shop here because my health is important to me. We are all struggling with something in our lives so I choose to give people and in this instance a store and its employees a little slack, the same amount that I would want from the people who know my short comings.

This Whole Foods pales in comparison to any other WF market that we have seen. The staff is awesome, friendly, helpful, fast. When you walk in and look around, something doesnt feel right. Several other customers had the same look on their face, the same concerns, and two of them recommended going to any other WF. The produce section is dull, and the food is half rotted. Three days after purchase, all of the organic apples oranges and lemons purchased have rotted/molded. At home, they are stored in hanging fruit baskets, which doesnt allow moisture to collect. Called the store to talk to the produce manager and was put on hold for 15min before giving up. The organic produce section is limited, there isnt the usual supply of organic that WF offers. The employee sticking in the area wasnt able to provide information if WFs non-organic items are non-gmo or otherwise. The prices for organic and non organic items are higher than in regular markets, or Trader joes. My recommendation: avoid this store. Go to a local farm, go to a trader joes, or go to another WF. Cheers and have a great day!

I have been to Whole Foods stores across the country: Texas, California, Oregon, New York, Pennsylvania, Florida...I love the brand and I usually am very happy with their products and stores....BUT this has to be the WORST Whole Foods I have ever been to. Unfortunately for me my office is nearby and it is a convenient choice for vegetarian, gluten free lunch or dinner.... I dont mind the small size. thats OK. I do mind that their staff is downright surly and bark at customers. I do mind that when they are giving out free samples you have to fight your way through the staff who are pigging out on the free stuff. I do mind that the staff have no clue where their items are on the shelf. And I do mind that the deli staff is not interested in making a sandwich on gluten free bread even thought the gluten free bread is only 10 steps away from them. Their soup is lousy and their chef does not know how to flavor food. WORST whole foods in the country.

Of course I always enjoy a trip to Whole Foods, but this time was especially wonderful. Here I come trudging in from the rain like some big wet frazzled lady, searching for the ingredients I needed for tonights dinner. I go through check out and I head home. Easy as pie. Lo and behold, when I get home, I realize that silly me has forgotten my entire recipe plan for the night! I run back and find the same register Id been through 15 minutes before to find a different cashier. He had no idea what I was talking about but was so helpful and was able to find me my lost items without an issue! I wish I had gotten his name but maybe his manager will read this and be able to find who I am speaking of and reward him! Thank you mystery cashier kid!

I live 2 blocks away and although expensive there are certain items there superior to other markets. My one continual problem is the deli ...the staff in the deli ALWAYS treats customers as if they are doing you a favor waiting on you. Even if there are several people waiting and 1 or 2 people doing what appears to be nothing but chatting with each other, they will not step up and help the people waiting. And again, the one person helping you has a horrible attitude...will actually ignore you until you say excuse me several times. I have walked out more than once. I r eally wish someone in authority would address this.

Over-priced. Bought milk this morning, opened bottle, all caked up, bottle says good for sale before Sept 7th, today is August 30th. Returned bottle for refund and was told that they were aware of the problem, possibly delivery truck problem. I have 2 comments (1) if they were aware of the problem, why are they still selling the milk?! Reflects a deeper management probem, or lack of (2) I dont believe its a delivery truck temperature control problem, just an excuse for a bigger problem, it takes a much longer time for the milk to cake like that

It is too small thanks to NJ "killing" property taxes... Compared to the same store in Maryland, it is more expensive - best examples are bananas, cheese and milk. Like in NYC they are "afraid of customers" thus posting cheese prices per 1/4 lb. It might be understood, as when revealing prices per the whole pound will cause suicide rate to go up very quickly beating all "Wall Street" estimates... There is a very small bakery with full of flies around during summer months. Nevertheless, some local breads are of good quality.

Loved the variety of smells here from the coffee to the many fruits and vegetables. The prices are a bit high for us although. So many products we would love to try. We got a tiny container of the chocolate peanut butter and it was very thick and filling fire the price. We enjoyed sitting down in the front at the counter eating it while watching a police car drive around the parking lot 3 times. Weird huh? Also a bit crowded and some customers think knocking into you with a purse doesnt require an apology....it does!

It would make the whole experience so much better if they would just develop a strategy to move people through the checkout lines a lot faster. The store has very limited space, and the congestion at the checkout area makes it impossible to move around. Its extremely uncomfortable. Another change for the better would be the availability of smaller shopping carts for people who just need a few items. If you dont get to the place before 9:00, you should just head for Kings in Upper Montclair.

This is a very tiny (in comparison) Whole Foods store. Be aware that the selections are not as large as other stores because of the space limitations. They do make good use of the space and offer just about everything you might need. The body section is only one aisle and they have a lot of supplements and personal care items crammed into that space but you might have to go the other store to find a particular brand. The employees have always been very helpful and nice.
