I have gone to NW Opticians for years, except when we lived out of town. My husband and I have moved back to St. Paul and once again I returned to have my contact lens and eye glass prescriptions updated. The owner Roger, as always, is very customer-oriented, friendly and efficient. The optical exam was excellent, and the doctor was determined to be exact in her prescription (in spite of the fact that I arrived for my follow-up exam to get the eyeglass prescription updated while wearing the old contact lens prescription rather than the new one). The only suggestion I would have for the Roger is to reevaluate the work performance and attitude of his assistant. I found her to be brusque and inattentive, to the point of rudeness, every time I was being "helped" by her. She doesnt greet customers in a friendly manner, she appears distracted and disinterested in making their experience pleasant, and when I had my 3 pairs of glasses updated with new lenses, she passed them over to me (directly from the technician who had just finished placing the new lenses into them) without offering to adjust them or clean them. I observed this behavior with other customers as well. She is not doing Roger any favors, in my opinion. Other than that, this is a wonderful, high end optical store, and the Dunn Bros. coffee side of it makes it a delightful place to do business.

Ive been coming to Northwest Opticians for ten years. These guys go the extra mile to ensure that I have the right prescription for my eyes, and the doctor of optometry is as professional as Ive known. Recently, I was mobilized at Ft. Benning and needed ranger goggles in the space of a few days, or risk being booted from Ranger School. So I called Northwest Opticians. Brett had my prescription, but not the specific frames listed on the Ranger 4th RTB packing list (just like Mickeys Diner steak and eggs, Ranger 4th RTB accepts no substitutions), so Brett went across town to a competitors shop, bought the frames I needed, cut the lenses, and FedExed them all to me in the space of a few days. Thats not the only time they have gone out of their way to deliver in the clutch. These guys are top notch.

This shop is the coolest and most unique optical shop Ive ever been in. Ive never seen such awesome and stylish frames and sunglasses! The opticians are the nicest and most helpful people Ive ever come into contact with. I cant wait to tell all my friends, co-workers and family about Northwest Opticians. I love the fact that it is connected to Dunn Bros. and you can have a drink and an awesome lunch from the outdoor grill.

I called to set up a first time patient appointment and the receptionist was incredibly curt and unfriendly... in my opinion, quite rude. The eye doc might be phenomenal, but if I would have to deal with an unfriendly staff every time I need to make an appointment, Id rather take my business elsewhere.

I received the most thorough eye exam I have ever had here. Fabulous. In addition, they have an excellent selection of hip and trendy frames (as good or better than InVision) and reasonable prices. They validate parking in their buildings ramp as well.

I work downtown and had a ripped contact with no back-up glasses. I walked in, explained my situation, and they gave me a trial pair matching my perscription. Helping me out when I was not even a patient there was awesome.

I witnessed the optician here treating a black woman and an asian guy very poorly. I decided not to do business with them after this.
