I am writing this for those who like me struggled with getting a roaster, can I afford it, will I get customers, what will give me the edge etc. etc..I spent HUNDREDS of hours comparing every feature of every roaster for the buck, so here is my two cents worth If you are just starting out it would be hard to do better than Mill City Roasters. I think good coffee is all about control, if you cant adjust it you are basically an oven. In the basic 1.5 kilo version they have separate controls and motors for air flow, drum speed, exhaust fan, and tray agitator. No more do I want air in the drum or in the tray stuff. The degree of adjustment is fine in the air flow, gas, drum speed allowing you to control wether you want a conductive or convective roast, and how much of each. With the phigit I can pull beautiful repeatable curves that are the same as you would see in roasters costing ten times more. Everything is not well, but if anything overbuilt. I could use this all day long only stopping to empty coffee and chaff. I dont think you can wear this thing out. And best of all for under 5k!!!! no cash flow worries! Buy tons of beans instead then when you have cash flow move up to your real business size. Yes at 1.5 k its small but if youre moving or have a helper you can fly and not worry about payments. Besides it will take you a while to be busy enough to economically use a bigger size, get an employee etc. I am a roast for fun person so I cant advise on the business end of things, but remember if you are self employed you get paid last, and cash is king. No I have not taken even one thin dime for the above comments, Im just trying to be helpful with what can be a tough decision. Best of luck and happy roasting! P.S. Got questions? Call these guys, they speak coffee.

This is long overdue. I started working with Mill City Roasters when my business was just a newborn concept. Without them, I can confidently say Wesley Andrews would be nowhere near where it is today. Mill City Roasters goes above and beyond anything I would expect from a Distributor. 1. Their roasters are amazing. The level of precision roasting available on their Northe Roasters is unheard of, and the affordable price makes it almost too good to be true (But IT IS TRUE!) 2. The customer service doesnt only feel both personal and professional, they also are genuinely passionate about helping you achieve your goals. 3. Did i mention the price? These roasters are affordable. That is a big deal, because high prices is a huge barrier to entry, whether you are breaking into the business scene, or exploring a hobby. Thank you Mill City Roasters for being yet another amazing business in Minneapolis!

good product, very slow shipping. They sent me an email three days after my order was placed saying that the insurance wasnt added that they recommend (no, that was a decision I made at point of sale) fine, I pay the extra shipping on the link they provided and leave a note on my door for UPS on day of delivery. No delivery. the coffee burrs were shipped with direct signature only, so now after 11 days I have to schedule pick up at the UPS location. arrrgh Edit.... within two hours of sending them an email after business hours, the owner refunded the shipping charges and wrote back a detailed letter acknowledging the frustration and apologizing for the delay. Thanks, nice recovery and worth another shot

Great service all around. They sell extremely well made roasters and provide free education for them. You can trust MCR for all your roaster/coffee needs.
