Ive been going to Harvest Co-op for the past year and half for all my groceries. The store has a great selection of quality produce, bulk items (spices, grains, beans, etc), and refrigerated items (including my favorite yogurt, Liberte, and locally made tofu). The staff are really friendly, and have gone out of their way to find things for me that had not yet been shelved. The store offers 10 cents off your bill if you bring your own grocery bags, and they have great weekly and monthly sales. There is also a good range of health products, with brands like Toms (toothpaste) and Kiss My Face. The membership scheme is a little confusing - we became members for $25, but did not spend quite enough ($650 or so, I think) in the last year to qualify for the rebate. But as a member you do get to enjoy member appreciation days, which are the second Wednesday of the month, when everything in the store except alcohol is 10% off. Im moving away from Boston in one month, and Harvest Co-op is one of the places I will really miss. Go check it out and support this great local business!

While I like the idea of the community co-op style, this place is absurdly expensive, and with little selection. Its gone down in quality and up in price since Ive lived in Central (5+ years) For example, a carton of regular Floridas natural orange juice is now $5.29. Bulk items - previously a big plus here - are now more expensive than Whole Foods. Furthermore--- everyone in the store seems so miserable all the time! If I want to pay high prices for actual gourmet food Ill just go to Whole Foods; if I want local produce theres always the the farmers market. Wish these guys would go back to their old business model.

Not to long after moving to Jamaica Plain, I joined up and became a member of Harvest Coop. Since I work in Cambridge, I have been to this location a couple of times and the store is well stocked, well lit and reasonably easy to get around. The parking situation is iffy, and I had the distinct impression most people walk (and that the clerk was shocked at the amount we were buying). None the less, they special ordered a vegan B12 supplement for my wife and me, and they have slightly better prices than most other high end food stores in the area.

Love this place for their selection. If you like local, vegeterian, vegan, organic uncommon products, this is your store. I am always amazed at their variety and love to try new things. The one big drawback is that stuff is usually pretty pricey, I have scored some deals. You get what you pay for though and if you are searching for something uncommon and specialized, this may be your place. They do a great job of selling things in bulk too which I like. Also this location offers more than the Jamaica Plain one in my opinion.

Harvest Co-op is great. Its not huge but it packs in a great selection and has everything you might need from a grocery store. Prices are generally good, and they always have great sales, so if you shop wisely you can save a lot of money. Membership is totally worth it if you live anywhere nearby; its just $25 per year and it lets you take part in the monthly member appreciation day which gives you 10% off on everything, so it can pay for itself several times over in no time.

Great little health food store right at the central square T stop. Nice bulk food section for things like rice, beans, lentils, etc. Ive been a "member" there for 3 years however and I dont see the point. You dont get any money back at the end of the year as yours rock got would with a co-op & if there are special discounts for members its certainly not enough that in even aware of them. Great store though. Also this is a place for CSA pick ups in the summer. Very convenient

Extremely overpriced; Harvest Co-Op makes Wholefoods look like Market Basket!! The quality isnt on par with other grocery stores either. I cant tell you how many times Ive walked in to see a rotting pile of fruit in the produce section. You can easily find everything you need here at another grocery store at a significantly discounted price. The only redeeming quality of Harvest is their selection of grains and nuts. This is still the only reason I come to Harvest.

The bulk section has an amazing selection and the prices are much better than other places Ive shopped. I tell my friends to save their glass jars for me and I buy all my flours, rice, beans, granolas, nut butters, spices, etc. from Harvest. We plan on signing up for a membership not only for the member discounts, but to also have the ability to influence even more environmentally conscious practices for our community store!

The food here is "clean" for the most part but there are still certain items in this store that I would not buy because they contain artificial ingredients. Also, the food here is extremely overpriced. P.s I prefer the Jamaica Plains location over this one because the JP location has a bigger selection of grocery items and much more variety.

Nice range of products, a lot of it local, but a few things are fairly expensive (mostly because they dont really carry generic brands, e.g. Cabot is the cheapest butter they carry). Their milk seems to last ~a week less than it should, to the point where I tend to check it immediately after purchase to avoid returning to the store.

I dislike the cold atmosphere and how it is supposed to be a hippy store that sells meat products for the good people who eat animals. I cant stand the stores hypocrisy and lack of regard for animals. Animals do not deserve to be killed for meat. People have lost all taste buds.

Harvest has been a great back-up for food for us. Its expensive but also has a great selection of vegan options. The bulk foods -- especially spices -- are a good deal. I also like to use them for bulk fair trade coffee and local bread from When Pigs Fly.

Nice place, but its a little pricey and I dont think the produce is that much better than a typical grocery store. Some great features though - bulk spices and grains, they sell wine, and in the summer theres a farmers market in the back on Mondays.

Harvest doesnt have as much community feel as some co-ops Ive shopped at, but for a small store they have a good selection of items that many mid-range grocery stores dont carry. The bulk tea and spices sections are particularly good.

Good store.I think it used to better years ago.Prices went up and the store sells some unhealthy non organic items which I think they should not sell. The prices are high for a food co-op when it should be lower then a retail store

It has good produce and meats and a wide variety of organic non-perishables. However, the selection is a bit lacking and they are very pricey. Theyve downsized in the years I was here which has affected quality and variety.

The best spice collection ever! You can buy just as much as you want for spices, tea, pulses, rice and so much more. A little expensive, but I love this place :) they also have a wine selection Ive heard praises for.

Their central square staff are great. It is so convenient to have real groceries on Mass Ave. It is a bit pricey, but theyve always had anything I needed from cereal, to dinner ingredients, to snacks, etc.
