Worst customer service ever!!! Here is the situation, my parents ordered 80 bags garden soil and 60 bags mulch. They were supposed to have it delivered on Monday the 10th and it was purchased, paid for and delivery scheduled the week prior. The store literally sold the product that was already purchased and didnt have any basic customer service skills even to notify the customer that they were not getting their purchase. The original purchase was at ankeny store to be reserved at the Urbandale store where it was in stock. This location originally sold the product that was paid for so it was transferred to the Ankeny location. The Ankeny location received the order transfer. And promptly changed the delivery date without notifying my parents who took off work to receive said order. My mom finally called after wondering where the order was and was told pretty much too bad so sad deal with the new delivery date. It had been sold because they were having a sale. Pretty sure selling product to someone else that has already been paid for is illegal. So we get to the reschedule now more time has to be taken off work especially with their vague it will be delivered sometime on the 11th..... My mom is disabled so they were to bring it into the garage which was scheduled ahead of time. She stated she was not going to be home and didnt want it piled in the drive for her (she is disabled) or my dad (who has a torn rotator cuff injury) to deal with. Their solution. Leave the garage open for the day. I mean. What?! Not in the nicest neighborhoods would I leave my home open!!! Their lassie faire attitude and absolutely no care for customers and lack of service recovery is appalling. If they would have mentioned their mistake in the first place it wouldnt have been an issue. Their attitude for the issue is the worst I have ever seen. I will NEVER be shopping at Home Depot again. Especially when they sell things you pay for and you end up getting the shaft.

Wont shop here unless I have no other choice. Dont get doors through them. Go see a window and door specialist, even if it costs more. I bought 3 sliding doors from them, with installation. I was very sure to ask what work would be left, specifically, I wanted the doors to be finished with no trim work or anything left. Doors in, no chores. Salesman assured me, yes, that is what I was paying for. Door installer got called in from Waterloo, due to scheduling error or something. He was also late because his wife got held up at work (which became my problem). Another red flag was that he showed up by himself to do three sliding doors in one day. Long story short, they were all messed up, wrong caulking used, not functioning correctly, etc. The door handles also did not have locks on them, which ultimately was my fault, but the salesman knew I wanted keyed locks and didnt advise me the doors I ended up purchasing didnt have those. He said hed look into it and call me back, and never did. They sent out another guy, the normal installer, who was local, to address all my issues. He fixed several things that were installer errors, had the Jeldwen rep come out and address an issue that ended up being another installer issue, then said hed be in touch to come fix the caulking, which was done wrong both inside and out. He also let me know that they DO NOT do finished trim work and painting, which is why I now have exposed raw wood both inside and outside my house. And, that call to fix the caulking never came. Moral of the story, this store and the installers they use are ill equipped to handle a routine sliding door purchase and effectively deal with customer service issues. Ive hit my fill, and cant deal with them anymore. Caulking and painting this weekend.....

Exceptionally bad customer experiences. I love HD and have spent 50K+ at this HD in the last 5-7 years on remodel purchases and other items. This store on Plum Drive in Urbandale is exceptionally poor. The service is never good, but unfortunately I live near by and frequent this location. The last time I stopped by, there were sales associates walking around doing nothing while I and other customers waited in the section of window coverings, flooring and cabinetry. What few Associates were around looked at us and ignored us. Then when we got attention, they could not help me because they dont have "kitchen designers working right now. You have to come back." Rudely stated! All this after waiting around for 15 minutes and then jacking around with associates who know nothing for another 10minutes before they can comprehend what it is I need. I know what I need, and can get most everything myself , but I cant use the computers to do their jobs and order my cabinets. Awful experience, so awful in fact, I left my cart full of goods sitting in the department and walked out never to come back. I even tried to call the store customer service line to provide my feedback and experience but was on hold for 10 minutes before I gave up. I will take my business elsewhere.

I purchased an item, put it together, and 1 package of parts was not there. Went back to the store and explained the situation, they were fine, said it would take 1-2 weeks they would get a hold of me. Never did, Ive called 3 times, no one seems to know anything about it, they keep taking my number and nothing happens. So Ive bought this from them over 3 weeks ago, and nothing has happened except for me wasting my time, which they dont seem to concerned with. I would have had a wonderful experience there if I had all the parts. Now, its just a horrible experience of customer service transferring me to the department, the guy is talking to the customers in the store while he is talking to me, its just really a poor thing to do. So then department guy takes your name and number down, and says he has to go back to shipping and receiving. Classic pretend to care, do nothing and the results are the same, the customer who spends money gets the short end of the stick. Its too bad too, because it shouldnt and doesnt have to be this way, but for whatever reason it is. This is 100% true story at this store.

Woefully Poor Service I went to this store today to purchase a $600 Milwaukee rolling tool chest. I asked an associate for assistance in getting a chest out of inventory. After nearly an hour of waiting and dealing with multiple associates and getting conflicting stories but no tool chest, I left the store. Apparently this big box store only has one fork lift and the associates don t communicate. Good luck shopping here if you need something other than a grab n go item.

I have had a few bouts of poor service here, but for the most part its top notch. If I have some complicated issues that I need help with, I try to go when its less busy if possible. If the associates have the time to help, they really go all out for helping me. If they are busy, they tend to point you in the right direction but thats about it.

Employees are not smart. Asked where an item was they asked me what the sku# was. How is a consumer going to know the sku# for an item they are lookin for. Happened 2x in the same day different employees. Not smart. Wont go back unless I know the sku# lol.
