RMK has been very good to me. They gave me good advice to not buy too powerful of a bike too soon when I first started riding a street bike. They gave me top dollar for each of my trade-ins. Marshall actually gave me exactly what I paid for my first trade-in. I bought a couple SHOEI helmets which Ive been pleased with and various articles of clothing at RMK. Today, I rode over to their store in Longmont from Boulder. I was picking up a manual from Parts so I was wearing a backpack to transport it. Not being careful enough I managed to knock a helmet from 3 feet to the floor with my pack. I immediately picked it up and went to pay for it. Jamie checked with someone and came back saying I was right that they couldnt sell it. I prepared myself for the painful purchase, but they gave it to me at cost which was significantly less that what they could have sold it for. Their Service Department has been really great too. Marv is the head mechanic. He has tuned the race bike for Ricky Orlando, a local racer who now owns a motorcycle school (safety and racing). Ricky has placed more than once at Daytona when Marv did his tuning. I feel that Marv is a really accomplished mechanic and he has done good work on the Kawasakis I bought at RMK as well as my used ZZR.(They of course work on most other motorcycle brands too). I value my bike very much but its a few years old and a mellowed version of a ZX6R. I imagine its not the hottest bike out there, but Marv really has gotten it running nicely. It felt new when I rode it home last week after the service. He also improved my mileage significanty. In addition, Marv replaced the clutch switch, installed some special sliders, and replaced the turn signals that the previous owner removed for the Eliminator kit. One of many others who should be mentioned is Grant the service manager. Hes been so knowledgeable about everything. And everything has been a lot with this used bike. He even helped me out over the phone, telling me what to try when my bike was having a problem en route to the major service tune up. When I was there today to pick up something from parts, I asked him about what sort of lube I could use for sticky gas tank lock. He ran out back between customers and sprayed some 6 in 1 even before Id paid for my parts. It totally did the trick. Thats not the only time theyve gone out of their way to help me. One of the biggest favors they did for me was checking the cam chain tensioner for me without an appointment while I waited. I barely found and purchased my ZZR before my sister and brother in law arrived early on their 3.5k roadtrip from Kentucky. I had just one day between buying the bike and riding with my sister. It was during that day that RMK checked everything without an appointment. They rechecked the cam chain tensioner that the other dealer said was bad and could fail catastrophically. Their check meant I could ride to Rocky Mtn Natl Park with my family. That was really special because Randall had just redeployed and we were so grateful he made it home. I really cant say enough good about RMK. Theyve been really friendly to me, very good about giving me clear explanations about everything to do with the bike, and been competent with my motorcycles. Encouraging me to buy the right bike for my ability earned them less money in the short run and may have saved me from a terrible mishap

Do not bring your bike here for any mechanical work. The mechanic I dealt with was inexperienced and highly unprofessional and unorganized. I have had an awful experience with their mechanic Aaron here last month when I brought my street legal 400cc Suzuki in because it wasnt running. The problem which I would later learn was the stater took them over two weeks to diagnose. In which time I was on vacation. When I arrived back I called for a check up on my bike and see if they had a diagnosis yet. But when I talked to them they seemed to think I was there for a carb clean. To Which I explained no I need it diagnosed because it is miss firing and I thought it could be the carb, but they are the experts so their guess was probably better than mine. So the next day they call me and say they thinks its the stater, but are not entirely sure. So I ask for a price prediction, because Im a little tight on cash and they tell me it shouldnt be over 600$. So they tell me they will order the part and the bike should be in by the end of the week. At the end of that which was the third week I called them again to see what was up. they told me they had forgot to order the gasket for the cover of the stater and it will take another week for it to come in. So finally after a month my bike is done. I walk into the shop and get my bill and they are charging me 200$ more than the 600$ I authorized. So after trying to explain to them that wasnt right. they dropped labor cost to make it what I was quoted. But not after getting really vocal and rude about it. But the main reason Im writing this review is the lack of respect Aaron showed toward my bike. I got it back and all the white plastics had black grease hand prints all over them. my brand new grey grips were black on my bike from his hands. Then finally I rode my bike to work today and as Im getting off the seat kinda slips. I look down at it and NONE OF THE BOLTS THAT HOLD MY SEAT IN ARE THERE. then I look at my plastics and none of them are mounted with ANY of the original hardware. There is an Alan head in the corner, a plastic screw from my faring in another, and a bolt in the third. they couldnt even do me justice to put the bike together right. So all I have to say is if you value your stuff or your safety do not take it to these incompetent mechanics. So to summarize - 200$ more than authorized - Over two weeks without even a diagnosis -In for an extra week than needed because failure to order gasket -Rude service -No communication -Bike missing seat bolts when finished -Bike plastics put back on with non original mismatched hardware -Bike covered in greases when finished UPDATE It has been one week since my original review. I have replaced the mismatched hardware they installed. Upon doing that I had to rethread the holes in my frame because it looks like the mechanics tried putting a bolt that was too big in it. Also as you can see management replied to my review saying they would get in touch with me, but it has been a week and I still havent heard from them. Which makes me feel like the problems they have caused me are not a priority to fix.

As a new rider, I wanted to buy a used bike as my first motorcycle. After shopping around at many different dealers, I finally found a 1980 Honda XL250S in great shape and at a good price in stock at Rocky Mountain Kawasaki. The Good: Doug is an excellent salesman. Treats you with respect and is willing to go the extra mile to make customers happy. He made the sales process very easy and everything was taken care of in about an hour. Doug even drove from Longmont to Denver to deliver my bike, which I was extremely grateful for. He also said hed help me source the rare 23" front tire if I needed another (the bike came with a new front tire). Also, the staff was extremely helpful and I received a 20% on a helmet the day I bought my bike and they even allowed me to come back a few weeks later to pick up gloves and boots and still get the discount. The Bad: Being that I was a first-time buyer, I wasnt familiar with motorcycles to detect problems at the time of purchase. However, I thought working with a dealership would be a safer bet than private party, because the service department most likely would address problems prior to selling. Unfortunately, I was wrong. Since I bought the bike and with the help of friends, online resources and much testing, I determined that I had a bad battery, bad turn signal flasher, I had to replace connectors on wires that were barely hanging on or were poorly crimped, the fuel hoses were actually vacuum lines and the fuel filter was installed backward, and the charging system is not working, so I either have a bad regulator or stator. Also, the rear tire has dry rot and will need to be replaced. I understand that the bike is old, but I dont think thats an excuse for failing to address some of these issues, especially those that are related to safety, especially since on one of my rides I realized I did not have a working brake light because the battery drained entirely and was not charging. Verdict: I greatly appreciate all of the good customer service that RMK offered during the sales process and after. However, I am disappointed in being sold a bike that had so many problems to deal with and that they were not disclosed. If I wanted a project bike, I would have bought one from a private seller at much lower cost. By going through a dealership, I expected to buy a bike with less problems. Unfortunately, because of my experience, I dont have any confidence of buying another used bike from RMK or new in the future.
