I second the experience of the other Archery department review. This review ONLY covers my experience with that department. Ive had good experiences with the other departments so far. I figured I would give the place a try since its half way between home and work so could be convenient with a full service archery department and onsite range. My wife and I brought in a few arrows, 2 of mine and 2 of my wifes, to get refletched. Every other store Ive been to (in 2 different states no less) will do that on the spot in a few minutes. Nope, had to leave my arrows with the promise that they will be done later or first thing in the morning. No problem, wasnt planning to shoot until the next day anyway and they have a range on site. 1PM the next day, finally get a call but its the archery department saying they dont understand the note the other associate left. Another 3 hours later at almost 4PM, I get a call that my arrows are done. So much for shooting the last day of my vacation. As I go and pick up my arrows, the color of the fletching is wrong. My wife and I each have 1 arrow of each of the requested colors instead of her arrows in her request color in mine in my requested color. The associate said it was his fault but he would redo them but Id have to wait another day since it was late in the day. Nope, Ill just take it some place else. I took my arrows back and will take them to one of the dedicated archery stores. I guess the plus is I didnt have to pay for it but seeing as how I wasted a bunch of time and now need to correct the fletching color on two arrows, thats not saying much. As an added bonus, I requested a few replacement arrows while I was in the first day. The associates recommendation got the spine count wrong and recommended an arrow that wasnt rigid enough for either bow nor long enough for the draw length of one of them even though I had just handed him my current arrows for refletching so finding a comparable replacement arrow should have been super simple. Just stick with one dedicated archery shops. Never had a bad experience with any of them.

ARCHERY DEPARTMENT - Archery tech (STEVE)- Brought in a bow to have the string turned 3 times so that the peep and d-loop would line up but ended up with a whole new problem. For being a supposedly Mathews certified tech this individual go and not tune a bow correctly and then accuse the customer that he or she was the one that made these changes. First problem, Peep was tied in without the customer being there, resulting in the peep being lower; Second problem; D-loop and arrow rest was moved causing the arrow to fly to the right, Third problem, Bow Draw length was changed from a 27" draw length to a 28" draw length; Fourth problem, The sight was also adjusted and now everything is shooting lower and will have to be readjusted per 20,30,40 yards; and lastly how can you make all these adjustments to a customers bow and supposedly tune it without having the customer present to verify the draw length, nock point, and peep height? Also, putting down other brand name bows other then a Mathew, because of your personnel preference does not make it more desirable but rather make your establishment look horrible. Thanks but no thanks, will rather go to CABELAS before i come back into this place.

Person to person transfers just jumped to $46. I have done at least a dozen transfers there since the new laws went into effect it was always $10 for the transfer and what ever the current CBI fee is. This is a shameless money grab. They also will not sell or order any gun with a mag more than 10 rounds even though the legal limit is 15 or a semi auto rifle like an AR or Ak which are still perfectly legal. Even though they sell some guns Jax is clearly NOT gun friendly and has lost what little was left of my business. Most of their stuff is outrageously high priced anyway.

Purchased a brand new Kahr CW40. Nice little package for concealed carry. Guy behind the counter seemed like he knew his stuff and recommended it. Right out of the box it jammed twice. Ran 200 loads through it to break it in. Some of the quirks went away but one deadly one did not - it would not eject a live round. Tried to bring it back and was given the firearms sales are final speech, OK. But... no signs, no notices, nothing on the sales receipt to that effect was to be found. So much for the Jax - bring it back promptly for a refund policy.

Jax is a really cool outdoor/sporting goods store, offering well selected, yet somewhat diverse brands. They have a great selection of bicycle and other outdoor gear; definitely reflecting the range of Colorado interests. Mixed in, I often find interesting things I dont see in similar stores, e.g. sky watching equipment and kids outdoor tech toys. Jax is a real gem in Lafayette, especially when you consider the separate Jax Farm and Hardware store across on the south side of S Boulder Road.

This place has everything, at a reasonable price, without feeling "trendy" or where everyone is trying to constantly sell you something. Everyone in this store in knowledgeable and helpful but leaves you alone without bothering you constantly while you shop. I go out of my way to come to this place. Jax is probably my favorite store in Colorado at this point. If they can manage to keep their prices as low as possible I hope they stick around for awhile.

Wonderful archery staff and range. Archery shop sells and services Mathews compound bows and Sage recurves. Staff is very kind, helpful, and knowledgable--I dont trust anybody else to work on my compound. The archery range is outdoor but with covered shooting positions and both sides are blocked off to reduce wind. Distance is 13 yards and theres 10 shooting positions. My daughter got into archery via their kids classes; highly recommended!

The selection here is good and the products they carry are generally high quality. The service is great, someone is always available to assist you. I think this is a good place to go if you need guidance on what gear you need or the pros and cons of different pieces. You pay for that . Their prices are not the lowest. If youre a seasoned outdoors person , you can find similar gear elsewhere at better prices.

One of the friendliest establishments with massive discounts and unmatched customer service. I go here when ever i can find an excuse and find it hard to leave. they fixed my chain saw for free and gave me $60 off ammo for almost no reason. they are knowledgable and experienced and willing to help even if it doesnt make them money.

They have a great variety of stuff: camping gear, outdoorsy books, bikes, kayaks, games for kids, clothing, firearms and cookware. They have a propane filling station instead of exchanging which is nice. Prices are usually good but not exceptional but it is a local store which is nice. They also have 3 EV charging spots out front.

Think of a cross between a hardware store, an REI, army surplus, and a gunshop. Great one-stop shop with reasonable prices. Its just a shame there arent more of them around. Regardless, I make the 20-mile drive whenever I need ammo, because the atmosphere is just a billion times better than any local dedicated gunshop.
