Do you cook? Go here. Im going to be simple: buying your spices in bulk means better prices (seriously, it ends up being cheaper than going to King Soopers most of the time), only getting as much or as little as you need, and fresher, higher quality products. Net results all around? - Better tasting food. Need a fraction of an ounce of some random spice for that recipe that you *know* youll never use again? They have it. And you can buy only half an ounce of it. Need to restock your basics like cinnamon, oregano, thyme, sage, black peppercorns, etc for holidays? Buy them straight from the bins and save money by reusing your old glass containers! They are extremely knowledgable, not-at-all snarky (as some people can be in specialty food shops), and always remember me. I also like both the quality of their product and the flavor of their spice blends way better than Penzeys (price often ends up being better too). One more time: do you cook? How about eat? Go here for your spices (and house-made spice blends/rubs!)

I have been to both Penzeys and Savory Spice Shop a few times. Savory Spice Shop is my favorite for many reasons, such as the multitude of sea salt options. Kind staff, and the ability to purchase spices by a set number of ounces instead of having to purchase a spice that has already been jarred. I find that the people who work at Penzeys are often unsure of their own product. I also noticed that their curry is not as strong as that of Savorys. I love how friendly the employees are, and all the little recipes you can get. Not to mention they are incredibly cheaper than Penzeys if you purchase spices by the ounce, than buy the jar seperate. Overall, Savory Spice Shop is the place to go for spices.

I am sorry Johan didnt enjoy his visit to the Savory Spice Shop. I have visited there several times and I have found the staff to be very knowledgeable, the quality of the spices was excellent, fresh and fragrant. I have traveled to many parts of the world, including Europe, Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, India and Nepal and have enjoyed buying spices at all of their markets. The Savory Shop is like bringing the world home. I would highly recommend it to anyone. In fact I dont live in Colorado Springs or the USA for that matter but I still buy all of my spices there and have them sent to me.

It looks, smells and tastes like other similar franchise spice shops. Jars, labels, product is almost and exact match to Penzeys. The staff was friendly and helpful, but their knowledge of spices seemed to be limited to watching Food Network every night. The quality of spices is mediocre. The whole spices are just ok and the blends are worse. If you enjoy the true taste of whole spices Id avoid this shop.

I walked by here a little while ago and decided to go in. I was almost immediately greeted by an employee who showed me how everything in this nifty shop works. They have samples of nearly every spice they have (maybe all of them) which makes choosing that exotic spice youve never heard of a LOT easier. Very good quality spices and seasonings here, you wont be disappointed.

The Savory Spice Shop on Tejon Street in downtown Colorado Springs is fantastic. The prices are great, the service is wonderful, the products are absolutely wonderful. I buy all my spices at Savory and they helped me mix up the perfect blend for my BBQ brisket. I have tried other spice shops and Savory is the best!

Friendly service, with a really nice atmosphere, and very clean. The prices are pretty reasonable, especially when purchasing a not so common spice. This is a must visit location, when you are in this part of town, if you are into cooking with spices. I think you will be happy you visited.

What isnt to like?? They have every spice you could possibly need for any obscure recipe, they have house-made blends that are fantastic, and the employees always offer ideas on dishes that work well with the spice you are looking at. My favorite place in the Springs!!

The selection of spices and spice blends is amazing. The best thing is that you can buy any of them by the ounce. I buy small amounts as i need them so I always have fresh spices.
