Frst, we were sort of stopped at the door and schooled on the difference between the small bites and the restaurant. We were running errands on a weeknight after work and needed dinner. The bar/small bite area was just too noisy. We opted for the restaurant. Price not an issue. We own our own business and thought it would give us a chance to evaluate this restaurant for our annual Christmas dinner for our employees. We always start in January and sample candidates for about 10 months - and then decide where well go. What happened from there, apparently, is that they perceived we were less than affluent. My husband ordered a broccoli salad, I ordered a Ceasar. I guess he didnt realize the broccoli salad was more sweet than savory - and he ate it, but didnt think it was all that good. My Ceasar was WAY too acidic. No hint of olive oil or the unctuousness of raw egg (like the original Ceasar is made with). Just a LOT of lemon. Cold, hard fried lardons (like eating cold bacon which is NOT enjoyable) and two limp pieces of something they called white anchovies (they were pickled, not briny). There was some kind of hot spiciness to the dressing, which I just did not understand, as lettuce has such a delicate flavor, you just bomb out your taste buds when you add hot spiciness to a dressing. Spicy lemon juice dressed romaine. Ugh. Probably one of the worst renditions of a Ceasar salad that Ive ever had. Then someone showed up at the table with 4 rolls on a plate and, basically, picked one of them off the plate and put it on my husbands bread plate. I dont do bread before my main course, so I waved her off. Hope we didnt break their bread bank there. Giving each person one small roll, seriously? I ordered the $44 14-oz dry-aged Ribeye medium rare. I ordered a side of what the menu stated were blue cheese crumbles (I dont salt my steak, esp. what is supposed to be a prime cut of steak, dry aged - but I do like the counterpoint of the saltiness of blue cheese in those instances). My husband ordered the daily cut of Bison rare at $46. Well, if that Ribeye was a $44 piece of steak, Im a french fry. The steak had veins of gristle running through it, rimmed in fat and pockets of fat throughout. The edges were medium rare, the middle was rare, cool to the touch. The blue cheese? They mixed a little bit of blue cheese with bread crumbs, and, I swear, bottled crushed in oil garlic - it was disgusting - had a moldy, off taste - could not even taste the blue cheese. The best thing on my plate was the mashed potatoes and broccolini. My husbands bison was cooked rare, but stringy. We took home over half of each meal. When warmed up the next night, the Ribeye had a weird, mealy texture to the meat and was VERY greasy and the bison was as tough as shoe leather. So, $189.00 later (included one beer and one mixed drink and the tip of $30 and some change), what we came away with: would not eat there again, would not recommend this place to anyone, is not a candidate for our annual company Christmas dinner.

It being a "date night" without kids, and to celebrate Mothers Day, we stopped at Cowboy Star because we were in the area. We wont be returning. The atmosphere was nice; we were seated in what turned out to be a private room. (We arrived there a little after 4 PM and told the hostess it was our first time.) The service was excellent. Since it was our first time at the restaurant, Sarah, our server, explained the menu in great detail. The person who brought us bread and water was quite friendly and we thought it amusing: it seemed like he was right there whenever we took a sip to make sure the glass was full. The manager, Kerani (sp?) was very nice in adjusting our bill because our meal wasnt cooked to perfection. We were a bit shocked by the prices, but it WAS date night, after all so I splurged and ordered the 8 oz. filet mignon - expecting it and the vegetables to be delicious at a price of $44. I asked for it to be cooked "medium" - expecting it to be pink on the inside. My husband ordered a chicken dish with carrots and potatoes. The presentation on both our plates was perfect. (Sorry, we arent photo takers of meals. When i went to take a photo of the under cooked steak, Sarah had come back to the table to inquire how we were doing, so I didnt get a chance.) Unfortunately, the chicken dish wasnt very hot (hubby said it was lukewarm). My garlic mashed potatoes were lukewarm, but very creamy and flavorful, the vegetables were lukewarm but crunchy, and my steak was very under cooked, but hot. The inside was quite red. Sarah came back, offered to have the steak cooked some more, so I agreed. It was sent to the kitchen, and came back with Kerani who asked that I cut into the steak to verify it was cooked to satisfaction - it was not, it was still red in the center. Kerani apologized, took the plate, and came back a few more minutes - this time the steak was cooked to pink, like it should have been in the first place. Kerani apologized and offered to "take care of the meal". We expected maybe a discount or free meal, but no... She removed my order and gave my husband half off his meal. Why we got a discount on the chicken, we dont know - we didnt say anything about the temperature of the food or say anything to imply hubby wasnt happy. For the prices, we expected a "best meal ever" type experience. It was not like that. But, as I said, the service was excellent, and we were happy that the waitress and manager both agreed that the steak wasnt cooked enough and remedied the situation to our satisfaction. I think I get better meals at Texas Roadhouse at much better prices. Giving 3 stars because of the way the bill was handled and the great customer service. Food - would rate a 2.

Ill start by saying weve been here a few times and were never disappointed. It is on the pricey side and you should probably make a reservation to ensure you get seated quickly. That said, last night my husband and I opted to celebrate our 6 year anniversary there. I made the reservation and they called to confirm it a few days prior. They asked if we were celebrating anything special and I said our anniversary but didnt think much of it. We got there a bit early last night so we enjoyed a hogans mule in the bar/lounge area. It was busy but we still managed to find a small table and were waited on quickly. It did take some time for our drinks to come out but that area was packed so I figured that. The drinks were amazing. They have some of the best bartenders in the area. The drinks are consistent (taste exactly the same every time) and the flavors just compliment each other so well. When our table was ready, we followed the hostess back only to walk up to a table with a fresh rose and a handwritten card from the staff congratulating us on our anniversary. The rest of the staff made it a point to stop by our table at some point in the night to congratulate us in person to! It really made us feel special. I cant think of another restaurant that would do that. To close out the night, our waitress made one final stop at our table before we left to give us special printed menus that said "happy 6th anniversary" at the top to help commemorate our night. The food was just as good as it always is and the wait staff equally pleasant. Do we go here as often as wed like? Unfortunately not because of the price point (about $200 or so for two) but for special occasions or that once every few month splurge its our go-to place.
