First of all STOP BUYING TEXTBOOKS OR RENTING THEM…the university doesnt tell you this but you can get almost 95% of the books you need from Norlin Library…I spent 800$ freshman year on books…..after finding out about norlins capability to let you rent the book for however long you need, or specific times (like I had a spanish text book but it could only be rented for two hours at a time). Either way i have not spent one dime on books since. I gave them 3 stars because the staff is friendly and helpful, also I have scholarship money and the ability to use my left over Scholarship money to buy things for myself….such as electronics of all kinds, office material, and in some rare cases even apparel. They allocate all students a particular amount of money to charge to their tuition as well…so even if you dont have a scholarship…adding 30$ onto of your tuition isnt too much damage!

First off, CUs books are always over priced. But I was compelled to write a review after returning a book that I bought the other day because I ended up not needing it. Upon requesting to not to receive a store credit of $140, the supervisor told me fairly offensively that I could only receive a store credit and not cash. After pleading for cash rather than a store credit, and stating that I would not ever use the credit because I had already bought my books, she replied, "well in 16 weeks youll need to buy more". That comment was absurd to me, seeing how $140 is a lot of cash for a broke college student. And now that $140 will remain stagnant in my wallet for a whole semester. We pay an arm and a leg to go to go here, start treating us with respect CU.

Not to be mistaken for the Colorado Book Store. CU Bookstore is owned by the University, obviously since its inside the UMC, unlike the Colorado Book Store which is on The Hill. Most of the store has been renovated a few years ago when they built the new add on in the UMC. They have probably the most CU memorabilia you can find in Boulder. So its definitely a good place to go to find souvenirs for your family or just CU stuff for you room. They also will have all the books you will need for class there because your professors send them all their books that they will require you to buy that year. F.Y.I., dont try to steal anything there. I used to work there, and their security team is awesome there, they catch a few people a DAY stealing.

Never using again. Rented me a textbook in horrible condition and then made me buy it from them at the end of semester because "[they] dont rent out books in this condition." what a joke. I mean really? Make me pay rental price and THEN charge me to buy it? Dont punish me because of incompetence on your end. Amazon it is next year. This place is a joke. EDIT: I was contacted by staff and I have been refunded the amount they charged me to buy the book. He was friendly and eager to help and gave a worthwhile point of view in defense of the bookstore. I am grateful that he reached out to me.

I ordered my books online for in store pick up and it took them two weeks to have them ready for pick up. I went in numerous times to ask about the status of my order, and each time they said that they would be ready "later that day." Finally I was able to get ahold of someone who was higher up than the floor employees and they got my order ready that day and were very respectful, helpful and nice. It made the experience better and they said they will fix this problem in the future.

If there is one thing you will hate at CU its the book store. I bought a book for $20 and when I went to the store to return it they said they will buy it for $2.0 (two dollar) or they will give me a $15 gift card. Two dollar is nothing and I couldnt use the gift card because I already bought all my books. The book store is playing with our money. I found out a way of getting a digital (ebook) book online for a lot less. Download your books from google or amazon.

Any sane person will NOT buy ANY textbook from this place. ALWAYS GO ONLINE and you will find EVERY textbook cheaper than those sold in CU Bookstore. Also, they re-buy brand new textbook back with only 10% of the original price: e.g. if you want to sell them a brand new book you buy from them at the price $70, they will only pay you $7 to buy it back.

Bunch of rip off artists. I will do everything I can not to buy a book here again as long as Im a student. Ridiculous and unlawful charges on late rental textbooks. Do yourself a favor and buy textbooks online

The book store has good selection, but for the most part, everything is overpriced. I would definitely look elsewhere before checking here unless you need something quick, or know its something small!

Theres all kinds of CU gear, Ive heard complaints about the staff but Ive never had a problem with them. Strongly recommend buying books and stationery outside as theyre really pricey.

Definitely check online or at discount book stores before purchasing here. This place is great for a short notice textbook purchase, but the prices are always market.

Its crowded at the beginning of each semester when everybody and their mother is shopping there, but during the year its quite a well-run, easy to use store!

Mean staff, They need to be more polite when people ask them for something. They need to listen before they talk.

The book store is located below the UMC building. Go through the gift shop and head downstairs. #GoBuffs!

Quality education? Doubtful. Rampant drug and alcohol abuse? Yes, indeed.
