I know a lot of people who have had great experiences here, so mine is probably not representative of the average encounter with this shop, but I want to share because I DID have a very bad experience with this place. I will say that the sales staff were extremely knowledgeable and exceptionally friendly. I purchased a MBP with 1-year Simutek warranty - there were two on the shelf, same model, same specs, but one had an almost new battery and as such was priced about $50 higher. I got the one with the good battery. A month or two later the unit does not turn on, no power, nothing. I took it in and they found that the logic board had died, and they replaced both the logic board and the battery. When I got it back and checked the battery, I found that they had replaced it with a battery with more than twice as many cycles as the one I had paid EXTRA for. I called them back and they said that is what they always do, they just grab whatever battery they had. I explained that this was not really very honest, I paid more because of the newer battery, and I paid for the warranty, I should get a similarly-aged battery from warranty service. After explaining this multiple times to multiple, incredulous employees, they said OK, when they get a newer battery in they will call me and swap it out. Its now been over a year and no call, I have this same horrible battery, and now that the warranty has expired, guess what - the battery is completely nonfunctional as of a week or two ago, wont even charge. On top of that, after they replaced the logic board a firewire device I had been using would not function anymore. They refused to even take a look at it after they connected a firewire hard drive and that worked. My device (an audio device, not a hard drive!) worked before the logic board replacement, didnt work after - you do the math. Anyways, I had a terrible experience here, and I really lost a significant amount of value from my money when compared to simply spending a little more and buying a new macbook from Apple. This place is fine if you get a good unit, if you get a bad one then you may not be pleased with the warranty service. I personally am a very unhappy customer.

I have had the worst experience at Simutek and the people there is not professional at all. I have a water spill over my MacBook pro and its urgent for me since all my documents for the incoming final exams. So I am trying to restore the data by myself, without the 5-point screwdriver, I am only able to get out 6 screws out of 10. I ask one of the staff for help and guess what the response is? they cant open the 4 screws for me and wont even tell me where to get the screwdrivers. Only because he want to fix it for me and charge me $125. Without any help and I need my data so badly, I prepaid $125 and the next day they inform me they cant not fix it. They keep saying that the the ssd is broken and there is nothing they can do. I paid $125 for nothing !!!. I am quite sure I dont have problem with my intelligence since I get my PHD early this year and I promise I can get the data out by myself in at most 30 mins with tools on my hand. For those people opened the MacBook by themselves, it is rarely that SSD can be damaged with a small amount of water since SSD is placed beneath the logic mother board. I will purchase some tools my self and perform the upgrade or replacement of CPU, CPU fans, Memory, hard disk drive and solid state drive. There are tons of video telling you step by step. If I ever get a chance to open my own store providing service for computers I swear to god that the labor will be much more cheaper, at least free of charge to unscrew Macbook, upgrade memory and SSD.

I will never step foot into the Apple store again. Had a major issue with my MBP, and needed it fixed right away. After being ignored by employees and standing in line for 20 minutes to "check in" I was turned away by the Apple store (not enough technicians to handle all of their reservations. Really?? HIRE MORE THEN), and headed over to Simutek. As soon as I walked in the door, my new hero Rich walked right over to me and asked me what I needed. I explained the situation, and he had my laptop open 2 minutes later. He recommended a solution, but said it normally takes 48 hours. I work from home and need my computer, so two days without it is a long time for me. He told me they would let me buy one of their used laptops and return it two days later. And I would if I could have, but it wasnt something I was able to do. So I left my computer there, and went home thinking I was going to have to give up two days worth of work. But lo and behold, about 4 hours later, I got a call saying my computer was ready for pickup. There was still something not working quite right, but they were able to find a $30 solution to a $400 problem. These guys ROCK. They are forever going to be the only place I go when I have an issue with my Apple products. THANK YOU!!!!!!

Simutek is wonderful! Are you tired of the ridiculous Apple Store, the so-called "Genius bar" and the weird cult-like atmosphere there? Locally-owned Simutek is the answer. These guys were helping solve mac users problems in Tucson since before macs were cool, and theyve been amazingly helpful to me personally, time and time again for more than fifteen years, maybe longer. The store is unassuming but their prices are great and their knowledge and repair services are fantastic. They also carry a ton of gently used and refurbished Macs, which are often a killer deal compared to brand new machines, and are basically indistinguishable. Most recently, the motherboard and GPU failed on my five year-old mac laptop (fortunately, a known defect, covered under an extended freebie program by Apple). Simutek was on it, and had it fixed and back in my hands in LESS THAN 24 HOURS, saving me and my business a ton of headache! It wouldve taken me twice as long just to get an appointment at the Apple Stores Genius Bar, where, most likely, some smug 12 year-old wouldve told me they couldnt tell me what was wrong, how long it would take or what it would cost. Thank you Simutek - you will always get my business.

I have visited Simutek several times in the past 25 years and can tell you I have received varying degrees of customer service, most have been OK. Today I started calling Simutek around 11 AM and continued to call until 3 PM. . Never did get a live person. I went to the store and found what I was looking for. I went to pay and waited and waited and waited. Never did any of the 3 persons who were working take the time to even simply acknowledge me, the person working service came over and got something behind the check out counter and again nothing after 10 minutes no acknowledgement, no eye contact, no smile , nothing. 2 Other persons were also interested in checking out or had questions and they simply walked out the door with me. I try to buy local when ever possible but when I receive no service like this, time to go online or visit the over the top organized service at SWS computers. Simutek The rudest and most unorganized customer service I have ever received, accept for the Apple Store in Tucson. If I need Apple products I will order them online.
