Hertz has inconsistent policies. I am a frequent business renter. In the past 3 years, Ive had the bad luck of 4 flat tires. One time I changed it and returned it to Hertz. No issues. The 2nd time Hertz came out and changed it and swapped me to another car. No issues. The 3rd time I had to take the tire to get it repaired an wound up purchasing another tire. Hertz reimbursed me for the tire. The 4th time (Mid April 2015) my tire picked up a piece of steel and ruined the tire. I checked and the car had NO SPARE NOR JACK. I called Hertz roadside. They sent out a tow truck. I had to ride with the tow truck driver for 100 miles back to where I rented the car (Athens, Alabama). The driver was drowsy and falling asleep. So, I felt in danger by sitting on the side of the interstate waiting on the tow truck since there was NO spare and then the guy was sleepy. Now, I get a bill from Hertz for $250+ dollars for the tire damage. This is horrendous customer service. I have notified the CFO of my company in hopes that we will NOT renegotiate another contract with Hertz when this one expires due to horrendous customer service. I understand that the location in Athens, Alabama is a franchise but they should be closed for providing unsafe equipment (no spare, no jack) and then charging for the new tire! Horrible!
The store in Athens Al is on Hwy 72 . This stores worker absolutely lied to me and changed the deal on my rental . She told me exactly that the rental was going to be $109 even as original charge would be higher for deposit. As we signed the different areas to not buy additional insurance and that there were some dings on car she told us $109 was going to be the total unless we came backlate after they closed. We came back at 330 as planned and now I see that total was $!65 instead $109 ! I can understand even some tax but all I can tell is that there was a $20 per day charge for my wife to be a driver! The employee watched us sign her name and driver license num as I kept on about the total. If there were any reason for it to change she had opportunity but again at end of paperwork she said $109 unless I am late getting car back. Today she changed her tune saying oh that was for a weekend package deal you chose a different car ! Lie lie lie and from a business that really is absurd!!!
This is a great company and they have great service every time I need a rental. I am sad to see the bad reviews, and I hope the review is from previous company mgmt or an isolated incident.
The office staff are awesome! They always go above and beyond to help anyway possible!
